Attic Stock: Making Big Problems Small

At the end of an installation, it’s common to have a few cartons left over. Those cartons shouldn’t leave that jobsite — they should stay at the site as 'attic stock', stored in a climate-controlled space, such as a basement or suitable attic.

The reason is simple: flooring products change constantly. Colors shift, visuals are updated, constructions evolve, items are discontinued, and production runs vary. Even when a product is technically still available, getting new material to match what’s already installed can be difficult — and sometimes impossible.

When damage happens down the road from water, pets, appliances, or everyday wear, attic stock becomes the solution. Having matching material on-site allows for fast, clean repairs without delays, mismatched planks, or the need to replace an entire floor because a small area can’t be matched.

Properly stored attic stock protects the original installation and the customer’s investment. It also protects the retailer and installer by eliminating avoidable service issues tied to discontinued or non-matching material.

The takeaway is straightforward: flooring lives in a moving marketplace. Products will change, but the installed floor remains. Attic stock bridges that gap — and it’s the best insurance policy a finished floor can have.
