This gorgeous wildflower bouquet was gifted to me when my beloved senior cat, Boo, passed away during the pandemic. It was the hardest pet loss to date and my husband’s cousins Vanessa and AJ showed up on our doorstep the next day with this lovely gesture. I decided to use this classic green glass vase that once belonged to my mom (who also passed during the pandemic). You’ll see my other kitty, Cheezburger (AKA Cheezy), admiring the flowers. You’ll be surprised to learn that she, too, passed during the pandemic. At this point, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that we had 3 more losses at that time. In any case, I love asymmetrical floral arrangements and this one naturally lent itself to “Beautiful Chaos” (which is exactly how I’d describe my life).

In a previous life, I was an assistant manager of a local all-ladies gym! It was some of the best times in my life, because we had so much fun!! My coworkers and clients were amazing and I felt like I was truly making a difference. When a new location opened with new owners, I was commissioned to paint the murals! I kept the style and color pallet of the original gym, adding my own spin. Unfortunately, my location shut down shortly after (I have much to say about that, but no need to share here), which was really depressing. I was asked to paint yet another new location, but I declined. So many wonderful memories that ended with heartache. I will say, however, this was a fun project and I’d love to paint another mural someday!

Our Disney-themed wedding featured a Cinderella-themed cupcake and dessert table! Our local bakery, The Faithful Little Cupcake 🧁, made the most delicious cupcakes, and I decorated the table with a Cinderella castle 🏰, a Cinderella and Prince Charming figurine, and a glass slipper from Disney World on a pillow. Minor touches, but most important for this post, were additional decorations I made myself. I painted little bluebirds and made tiny bonnets for them. They embellished the cupcake stand and now reside in our Cinderella-themed curio cabinet with other wedding keepsakes. I also created the mice cupcake signs, featuring Gus (Nutter Butter), Mary (White Wedding), and Jaq (Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake). Lastly, I hand-dyed all the little flowers 🌸🌼— you’ll see them again in an upcoming post. These were all just small touches that I feel made a big impact to elevate the experience, even if it was mostly just for me lol. The Faithful Little Cupcake

I love an asymmetrical arrangement! Something about it being a bit off feels so right. “Summer Burst” is an alternating layered design full of textured petals! The lining on the vase helps bring the whole piece together as it cinches near the top before booming with beautiful colors against a cool background (serving as a reminder that the summer season is coming to a close, but is going out with a bang)! It’s no secret I love summer and look forward to the sunshine and colors again next year.

My latest sand sea turtle was created in June 2022 while visiting North Topsail Beach. We visited The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center during our stay. I sponsored a yellow sea turtle named Pammie who was recovering from an injury. What made this sea turtle so special, is my mom’s name is Pam and her favorite color was yellow.💛 Her one and only visit to the ocean was a short stop in St. Augustine in 2015, and she loved it so much she decided she wanted her ashes to be spread in the ocean. She passed in January 2022, so I decided this would be a good opportunity to honor ger wishes. I brought her biodegradable urn on this trip, rented a boat, and had a very private ceremony with just me, my husband, and my mother-in-law. So I felt a connection with Pammie the sea turtle. I reached to the sanctuary last year for an update on Pammie and learned she had fully recovered and was rereleased into the ocean! I was given a commemorative photo of her (attached), which now resides in our sea turtle themed bathroom. This sand sea turtle is also named Pammie.💛
