If you noticed more traffic the last few days. Count on traffic on both I-77 & I-85 to be bushy for the foreseeable future. All traffic is being detoured as the way to get around the mountains.

The damage from Hurricane Helene is so bad that I-26 and I-40 between NC and TN is not expected to be fully back open for a whole year. These are two major interstates that move a lot of goods. There are many many more local roads that are closed indefinitely in the area.

To get to North Carolina, you'll now have to go through Atlanta or up north through Virginia.
