Our plans to sell antiques and collectibles on Facebook Marketplace and our website after selling our building, came to an abrupt halt 20 days after the building sale when Sharon was involved in a bad car accident. Both cars were totaled and the air bags saved her life but both legs were very badly bruised and her right leg had a fractured shin bone that required an Orthopedic Specialist at the Skokie hospital to insert plates and pin the bone in place..

She was bedridden for two months and had to be hospitalized a second time due to poor care at a nursing facility that caused an infection and the infection got into the blood stream causing a more serious sepsis. Three weeks on antibiotics finally cleared up the sepsis and she was moved to a different nursing facility.

She spent the last two months getting physical therapy (some of it lately at home) and has gone from a wheelchair to a walker to a cane and finally walking without help. She's still pretty unsteady but hopefully she will get stronger over the next couple of months.

In the meantime, we're planning to have an antique and collectible sale sometime before fall. We will post it here when the time comes. Further plans will depend on how well the sale goes and whether or not we can find a bulk buyer for everything or need to take it to auction. We have over 150 boxes of merchandise, several pieces of small furniture, a couple dozen framed paintings and prints, several power tools, several boxes of hand tools and many other miscellaneous items to sell. Today, February 29, 2024, was the closing of our brick and mortar mall. All the merchandise has been moved into storage in anticipation of selling everything online.

We will continue selling antiques and collectibles on Facebook Marketplace and hopefully by April 1 we will have our website www.zionantiquemall.com updated with more antiques and collectibles as well. We will continue shipping orders within the Continental U.S.A. with payment by PayPal

We're down to our last three days in business as a brick and mortar antique mall, but we plan to continue selling items on our website, zionantiquemall.com and on Facebook Marketplace. We still have some very nice antiques and collectibles packed away.

We're closing the mall permanently at the end of the day Wednesday, February 21. Almost everything is now 75% off. All the books are 90% off. A few items are marked firm.

The shelving, bookcases and fixtures used to display the antiques and collectibles are also for sale at very reasonable prices. So, if you get a chance, stop by and check us out. Otherwise, look for us on Marketplace and on our website (it may take us a few weeks to get the website re-organized. We've ignored it for too long).

We'll be open Monday-Wednesday, February 19-21 from 10-5. It's CASH ONLY. We can no longer process credit or debit cards.

Thank you to everyone who has visited our mall over the past 36 years. It was a pleasure serving you. But now it's time to semi-retire.

We definitely have had our ups and downs when it comes to retirement. We have come back out of retirement 3 times now. The first two times we thought the building was sold, the offer to buy it was cancelled. This caused us a lot of stress and disappointment and confused our customers because they didn't know if we were open or closed.

But, the third time is the charm. We have set the closing on the building for February 29, and unless there is a major catastrophe, this time it will happen. In the meantime, until February 28, the day before closing, (unless everything is gone sooner) we will be open 10:30 - 5 Tuesday thru Saturday and 1-5 on Sunday. Almost everything except a few items marked firm, is 75% off.

All the shelving, bookcases and fixtures used to display the antiques and collectibles are also for sale, at very reasonable prices. For the best selection, come in today. CASH ONLY! We no longer accept credit or debit cards.

FINALLY RETIRED

We decided to retire at the end of October, after 36 years in Zion. We're not totally free because we still have merchandise to sell. So, even though we're now officially closed Monday thru Friday, we're accepting appointments to see the antiques and collectibles or inspect the building (which is still for sale), during those days. We're still open to the public (Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 1-5) until the building is sold. So give us a call at 815-347-5712 to make an appointment at your convenience between 10AM and 5PM during the week, or visit us Saturday or Sunday when we're open to the public. Everything is 50% off except a few items marked firm or liquidation priced. Cash only!

We're looking forward to the upcoming Nostalgia Days car show on June 17. We've been in town for every show since it's inception plus even a couple years longer. It's always a good time for everyone.

As many of you know, we have been hoping to retire after 36 years in business, but we would like to sell the building and everything in it before we do. So, we're having an ongoing business liquidation sale to sell as many of the antiques and collectibles as we can before we close. There are still a lot of nice things available and everything is 50-75% off. If you don't have a chance to stop by before the Nostalgia Days car show and you plan on attending the show, pop in while you're downtown and see what we have. We have several 4 drawer and one 3 drawer file cabinet with rusty bottoms to give away Free. They should be good for garage or basement storage. The drawers open and close fine. First come first served.

What can you do with an empty, very ornate, 1920's radio/phonograph cabinet? Turn it into an LED lighted bar, of course. The top lifts up and the top front 6 inches drops down to make a shelf for your drinks. A strip of LED lights brightens up the mixing area. The first LED lighted shelf below holds the drink glasses and the bottom LED lighted shelf holds the bottles. It took many hours for the conversion, but I'm pleased with the results. It's in the mall if anyone is interested in taking a look.
