🇻🇳 ONLY HAVE 1 DAY IN HANOI? HERE’S HOW I’D SPEND IT.
Only have one day in Hanoi before heading to your next destination?
Don’t try to see everything. Pick a few experiences that let you see, taste and experience the real Hanoi.
☀️ MORNING – Explore the Old Quarter
Start your day with a Vietnamese breakfast and a cup of traditional Vietnamese coffee.
Then wander through the Old Quarter, visit Hoan Kiem Lake, and explore the small streets, local shops and hidden corners that make Hanoi so unique.
🍜 LUNCH – Eat like a local
Forget the fancy restaurant for a moment.
Try phở, bún chả, bánh mì or another local dish at a small Vietnamese eatery.
Hanoi is best experienced through its food.
🔥 AFTERNOON – Go beyond the tourist center
This is the part many travelers miss.
Instead of spending your entire day in the Old Quarter, take a short trip outside the city center to discover one of Hanoi’s traditional craft villages.
One of my favorite choices is Đa Sỹ Blacksmith Village, where families have been making knives and traditional tools for generations.
Here, you can join a hands-on knife-making workshop and make your own Vietnamese knife under the guidance of my father — a local knife maker with more than 40 years of experience.
You'll experience the fire, the hammer, the steel and the traditional craft yourself.
And the best part?
🎁 You can take your handmade knife home.
It can become a unique souvenir from Vietnam — or a meaningful gift for your family and friends.
Instead of buying another mass-produced souvenir, why not bring home something you actually made yourself?
🌙 EVENING – Back to Hanoi
Return to the city center, enjoy a Vietnamese dinner, grab one last drink or walk around Hoan Kiem Lake at night.
One day isn't enough to discover all of Hanoi.
But if you choose your experiences wisely, you can leave with good food, great memories and something meaningful to take home.
❤️ If you only have one day in Hanoi, don't just visit Hanoi. Experience it.
