Why do Bát Tràng ceramics need to be fired twice?
Before any glaze or hand painting is applied, every piece goes through a bisque firing. This first firing removes moisture, hardens the clay, and prepares it to absorb glaze evenly.
It also allows artisans to spot cracked or damaged pieces before the final firing—one of the many reasons authentic Bát Tràng ceramics are known for their durability and quality.
Most visitors never get to see this process… unless they visit the factory.
