MBH 6, Block 2 in the books!!

Gnorma and I are thrilled to have completed Block 1 of MBH 6!!
If you remember last year, I used my mom’s vintage Moda Fabrics to create a memory quilt.
This year I chose Sacré Bleu by French General for Moda in memory of my dad. Sacré Bleu is a very mild French curse word and my dad cursed A LOT so it seemed fitting - LOL!
I have FOUR background fabrics this year, so I guess I’ll call it an organized scrappy quilt.
I can’t wait for next week!!

Gnorma and I are not huge fans of HST (though we do agree, they have their place), so we went with no waste Flying Geese instead.

The story: my mom recently passed away and there was an ABUNDANCE (to put it mildly!) of fabric for me to use (well over NINE large suitcases worth!)

As it turns out, my love of ALL things Moda is clearly genetic. Among the myriad of Moda FQ, Layer Cakes and Charm Packs, I came across this wonderful little Scrap Bag!

The plan: document each block as I go and for this block specifically, figure out how to hand embroider and embroider “Love, Mom” on the block. After this week, I’ll be behind because we’ll be away for the last two weeks of September (and sadly I can’t take my machine!), but I’ll have fun catching up when we return.

MBH5 is off to a GREAT start!!
