The beauty of a home isn't only seen during the day. The power of lighting design can turn your home into a stunning masterpiece when the sun goes down. 🌜✨

At night, your home's architectural details and lines can be highlighted by the play of light, revealing hidden beauties that aren't apparent during the day. The correct lighting can do wonders for your home, whether it's drawing attention to the graceful texture of the exterior or providing a cosy glow within.🔥💡

Keep in mind that interior lighting is just as important as external lighting. Subtle lighting can accentuate building features, creating an atmosphere of calm sophistication. 🕯️💫

A good exterior lighting design always draws attention to the composition, textures and features of the building, while concealing the light source. This makes the building enchanting and pleasant to look at. 🌃⭐

The same way animals adapt to the environment that they live in, it is vital for a building to respond to the climate it stands. ⛅🌳

The same way the adaptation brings in health and long life for an animal, it makes a building healthy, creating a healthy environment for it's inhabitants. 🏃

In a world that is always changing, architects are very important when it comes to climate responsive designs that integrate well with the environment, while contributing towards a sustainable future. 🌍

Architects have the opportunity and an obligation to make buildings that fit in with their surroundings and use nature's resources while leaving as little of an ecological footprint as possible. 👣

Climate-responsive design keeps indoor areas comfortable all year, so you don't have to use too much energy for heating or cooling. 🔋

🌳A house merging with nature 🏠

Text from the Architects:

“asa Aviv is a modern private home located in Tulum, Mexico. A short distance from the beach and the crystalline cenotes, the house sits discretely in the jungle, merging indoor and outdoor into one generous, peaceful space.

Composed of two parallel volumes, the house accommodates a total of 4 en-suite bedrooms, high ceilings, open kitchen dining and living areas, a private pool and a 360º roof terrace.

The house is oriented east-west, taking advantage of the prevailing winds and cross ventilation. North-oriented skylights fill the different spaces with indirect natural light, creating soft contrasts of light and shadow reflected through the house.
Designed and built by CO-LAB, the house is surfaced with handmade finishes. The warm grey polished cement walls contrast with black terrazzo floors. Charred cedar wood carpentry complements the neutral palette.”

🏛️🌿 Building with Nature Instead of Against It

Let's discuss the irresistible charm that comes from using natural materials into building design.✨

It's easy to lose sight of the raw materials' tremendous beauty and genuineness in today's fast-paced environment. Instead of covering the material with paint, cladding or anything artificial, revealing its true nature is how we show respect to the material, while embracing the value that it’s giving us. 🙏

Whether it's the rustic allure of red brick, the softness of natural stone or the homely feeling of weathered wood, each texture has a story to tell that enriches the atmosphere of the rooms we inhabit. 💫

Incorporating these materials into architectural design creates a smooth transition between the built and natural worlds. It's a tribute to genuineness, in the act of embracing the nature's imperfections and giving it value, as we all are imperfect beings of nature. ✨

🌳A house built in harmony with nature 🏠🌳

Text from the Architects:

“Casa Azul is a case study on how to build amidst lush and protected nature, without damaging it. The land is located in Serra do Guararu, a coastal region of the Atlantic Forest in the state of São Paulo, just 500 meters away from Iporanga Beach. As it is an environmental protection area, the architecture had to work within strict parameters to fully preserve the existing landscape.

From the start, a perimeter of two meters was defined around the projection of the house to protect the forest from construction activities. The project should be implemented within an area previously delimited by environmental agencies, keeping the rest of the land untouched. It was then decided to raise the house on pilotis, generating a span of 15 meters long by 8 meters wide, which shades the main social and leisure area on the ground floor of the house.

This wooden deck, slightly raised from the ground to protect the pavement from moisture, blends in with the surrounding vegetation, sinuously extending beyond the building's projection. Its abstract geometry, a tribute to the work of landscape architect Roberto Burle-Marx, intentionally contrasts with the rectangular volume that defines the house above and makes it possible to bring the vegetation either closer or further away, alternating the forms of interaction with the landscape.”

How to Make a Lasting First Impression: Why the Front Elevation of a House Is So Important. 🏡

As the first sight that guests and onlookers see, the front elevation of a house sets the tone and gives a quick idea of the home's style and personality. 🏰

The front elevation is a visual reflection of the architectural style, so it's important that it looks good. The public appeal and charm of the property are helped by how the elements, materials, and details are put together. Along with the architectural concept, a well-designed front elevation can give off a sense of charm, grace, modernity, or timelessness. ⭐

In front exterior design, it's important to think proportions and composition of elements. A balanced design always makes sure that the house looks good and fits together from all elevations. Strategically placing windows and doors not only makes the building look better, but also helps make the most of natural light and ventilation. 👌

Landscaping is an important part of the design of the front façade. It brings out the beauty of the building and makes the house fit in with its surroundings. Green areas, gardens, and paths that have been carefully planned can add to the property's general charm. 🌳🌲🌴

Also, a well-designed front façade can make the house more valuable. It gives the owners a feeling of pride and emotional attachment, and when it's time to sell or rent the house, it immensely helps in attracting possible buyers. 💰

As a business owner, the most valuable asset that you have is your people, the team. Their maximum performance is critical for your business to make more profits.💸

But, do you know that even if you hire the best people and use all the strategies to make the best out of your team, there could still be some reasons behind them not being productive as much, to meet your expectations? 😱

If, for some unfortunate reason, your office building is designed not meeting the proper standards, the building itself could be making your team sick, unproductive and increase absenteeism. This is also known as sick building syndrome, or SBS. 🤧

You would not be able to increase your profits with a sick team, would you? 🤢

A negative mind is not always the reason behind the lack of motivation. The environment has a critical and major impact on it. 💡

This is why it doesn’t matter how hard you try to motivate your team by using all the business strategies that you may know. You might not get the results that you want, until you address the real issue: the building. 🏢

Read the post to find out how you can fix your office from sick building syndrome. 🧐

Redefining the idea of “House” 🌳🏠🌳
Text from the Architects:
“ More than 70 years have passed, and I still vividly remember that day, every summer, it was hot, our children would gather under the canopy of an old tree and then set up a small tent together. We call it “House” to avoid the sun and to have fun. Some cut down trees, others cut leaves to set up tents and decorate them so that they were beautiful and eye-catching. After completing the "House", we went to find things to "settle down" in that leaf hut…

The leaf hut was our childhood and the place where we could experience interesting games and listen to music. stories that still feel like it all happened yesterday. The simple game of the hut raised our little souls in the poor countryside that day.
That's the story the elderly family man took the time to share with us during our first visit to the project. He wishes that his grandchildren grow up and experience a wonderful childhood like he had before.
From that desire, “TREE HOUSE by THE LAKE” was formed under the trees of a perennial conch forest with beautiful water and scenery in peaceful countryside. The work is completed by us mostly with local “scrap” materials with the desire to reduce costs as well as impact the existing landscape and nature.”

Are you looking for a land to build your house? Then there are things that you must be absolutely aware of, before you make the buying decision. ⚠️

And I’m not talking about the usuals - regulations, accessibility, details of the deed, etc. 🙅‍♀️

I’m talking about the environment. If you don’t be cautious enough, it could negatively impact your health. ☠️

A home can either impact negatively or positively to the inhabitants’ health depending on the way it is DESIGNED as well as its LOCATION. This is because both the design and location help modify the interior environment of a house that you live in. 🏡

Therefore, to have a healthy interior at home the immediate environment of the house (and your land) should provide healthy conditions. Therefore, considering these factors which would impact the environment of your land, is a must for a healthy life. 🤸‍♀️

Staircases are often forgotten when designing a house. Usually a lot of effort is put into making living rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms interesting, but the staircase is just a way to get from one floor to the next. But, what if we make it exciting?

Architecture has the power to make a staircase an exciting and inviting place that makes people curious and wants them to move around. By adding imagination and thought to the design, we can make climbing the stairs something to look forward to.🤩

This can come into benefit specifically in office buildings, and can be used as a simple method to improve the health of employees. In an office environment where people are extremely busy, the elevator is usually the norm. However, adding interesting stairs can make people want to use them instead of the elevator; simply by making the journey and experience interesting and playful. It can give the mind short breaks while exercising the body. 🏃

In architecture, the staircase is an opportunity to create a lively experience. Imagine a big stairwell with a beautiful skylight that lets in a lot of light and leads you to new heights, both literally and figuratively. As you move through the space, the materials, colours, and lights make each step an adventure and lead you to a higher state of mind.🌈✨

Small outdoor spaces may be made into beautiful additions to homes by using creative design techniques. 🏠🌳

The limitations that a garden's size may impose should in no way restrict our imagination. With careful planning and design, even the smallest outside areas may be transformed into charming getaways that flow naturally into the interior of a house. Landscape designers are able to maximise a small area by taking into account the space proportions, the sun path, and the occupants' specific requirement. 🏡

Every detail matters in a small garden. Plants, hardscapes, and focal points may all be strategically placed to improve the visual link to the interior environment. We can create a smooth visual connection between the interior and exterior by carefully curating the landscaping to match the architectural design of the house, materials and colour palette. 🌲

What do you think of living in a house like this? 🌬️

Text from the Architects:
“Casa Mateo is located at one of the highest points of the Punta Garrobo development in Zihuatanejo. The east and west views towards the Pacific Ocean and the cliffs within the jungle landscape are maximized to generate an integration of the house with its environment.

The challenge of the commission was to exalt the user’s connection with the natural context in their daily life. In this way, tours, a patio of water, and terraces add to the idea of creating atmospheres of relaxation, leisure, and enjoyment.”
