Check out Jim's customization of the Serpentine clock kit. Jim's daughter painted the frame to look like an emerald boa. Jim shaped the head and added a carved tongue at the top. He also rounded the edges of the hands before painting them red. This has to be one of the most creative customizations of our clocks that we've seen. Great job Jim and daughter!

Just finished a run of custom cutting for Cecilia Schiller--some automata kits and ornaments. Cecilia has some really amazing stuff at ceciliaschiller.com (this kit is "Oh Deer" on her website). We love doing custom cutting for other artists. Please reach out if you would like to discuss custom laser cutting.

Custom parts? No problem. Blake wanted to customize his Tranquility clock, so he requested a maple dial and hour gear to go with his cherry frame and walnut gear kit. The three wood types, along with painted hands, make for an interesting contrast. Great job, Blake!

Pete's Ascent clock (walnut frame with maple gears). Pete writes, "Just finished putting together the Ascent clock and it looks beautiful. It was almost too easy. I am blown away at how accurate the time is so far it's been running for over 24 hours and it still matches up perfectly with my cell phone time. . . . I love the quality of the material and the detailed instructions thanks for making this great product."

Thanks, Pete! We're so happy that you enjoyed making your clock.

I'm usually reluctant to paint wood, but it sure looks great on this Crescent clock. Jim writes, "I was going to finish the gears in the natural cherry but I couldn’t find a finish I liked so I painted them in the pop out sheet to avoid getting paint on the gear faces. This is the second wooden clock I’ve made (the first was [from another company]) and I think this is a much better kit with a higher chance of success. I may do another one, maybe the Serpentine Clock . . ."

Thanks, Jim, for sharing your clock with us!

Andy's brother passed away before being able to successfully complete his Serpentine clock. Andy was determined to finish the clock as a tribute to his brother. He contacted us for a missing part and a copy of the old instruction manual. We are thrilled that Andy was able to complete his brother's clock, and are honored to be part of Andy (and his brother's) story!

Brent writes, "I got it hung in its permanent spot. You were right on the color choice. I think it looks pretty cool! Thanks again for the help!" Brent's color choice was walnut frame with maple gears. It did make for a sharp looking Diadem clock. Thanks, Brent!

A builder asked whether it would work to paint the gears before removing them from the panel (to keep paint off of the teeth edges). I was worried that paint might get into the kerf and seize the gears in the blank. I tested it out, and it worked just fine!
