My first crafting experience was with my maternal grandmother and a lap loom; I made this hideous trapezoid shaped (supposed to be a rectangle) placemat with cotton thread and cut up t-shirts. I still have my first project, and the memories that come with it. I am constantly creating things, recycling unwanted things into works of art and then promptly giving them away. Over the years, I have made
the weaving project with Grandma described above, my doll's clothes (started sewing at age 5), sewn wedding dresses, bride’s maids’ dresses, baby clothes, men's dress shirts, quilts, cross stitch, pottery, painted art, pallet furniture, scrap-booking, and greeting cards and embroidery. Kids came a along 23 years ago, one son and then only 20 months later, fraternal twins (boy & girl) and just like that we’re empty nesters. Our kids found amazing people to marry and have their own lives out there in the world. This year had my Husband and I moving across Canada, and, with extra time on my hands, I dug through my crafty supplies (there are many) and tried embroidery. While browsing Instagram, I became inspired by a woman from Australia that has done some amazing things. She just started embroidery a year ago and has an Etsy shop that is always sold out! I started stitching up some cactus designs, one after another, soon I had a pile of over 25! I knew I should open this shop and get to selling. Recently, joined a local maker group 'YWG Makes' here in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Everyone in this awesome group is busy making and selling on Etsy as well as local markets & popups. TwigandClothStudio is my new store here on Etsy, and I hope you’ll enjoy these creations. Know that each stitch, is made in a home of love and community. I hope you too are getting your craft on and if you’re not crafty, you’re buying handmade gifts and goodies.
