This month, I’m doing a challenge on Freedom—choosing to do what brings me joy and saying no to what doesn’t. Yesterday, that meant picking up embroidery (something my grandma taught me 35+ years ago), but with a twist.
I didn’t have a hoop, a dish towel, or the little stamps my grandma used—so I got creative. I turned to what I do have: my design software and laser cutter. I designed an embroidery pattern digitally and then stitched it by hand, blending old traditions with new tools.
She used to embroider dishcloths, and I know she would have loved this. Honoring her in my own way reminded me that freedom is also about embracing creativity and making things work in a way that feels right for you.
What’s something you do that connects you to someone you love?
