🧵✨ Happy National Sewing Day! ✨🧵

Fun fact about Mela’s Cottage: all of my machines are named after Disney characters who have a connection to sewing, designing, or creating!

🦆 Daisy – my older embroidery machine, named after Daisy Duck, who is often shown sewing and creating fashionable outfits.

👗 Edna – my newer advanced embroidery machine, named after the fabulous fashion designer Edna Mode from The Incredibles. (No capes!)

🪡 Eudora – my sewing machine, named after Eudora, Tiana’s talented seamstress mother from The Princess and the Frog.

✨ Wendy – my travel machine, named after Wendy Darling from Peter Pan, who famously sews Peter Pan’s shadow back on.

I guess it’s safe to say my sewing room is full of a little Disney magic! 🏰🧵

I’m so excited to share that Mela’s Cottage will be a vendor at the inaugural Vintage in the Hudson Valley Festival on July 11–12! 🎉

You know I can never resist vintage treasures, handmade goodness, and a good treasure hunt, so this event feels like the perfect fit. I’ll be bringing a curated mix of vintage finds, handmade creations, and plenty of cottage-style charm.

If you’re in the area, mark your calendars and come spend the day shopping, exploring, and celebrating all things vintage. I can’t wait to be part of this very first festival and see what treasures await! ❤️

I’ve been a little MIA lately, and for good reason. ❤️ I’m with the NY kids as we anxiously await the arrival of granddaughter #3!

That said, I haven’t completely put Mela’s Cottage out of my mind. Between doing lots of fun family stuff, I’ve done a little pickin’, a little stitching, and a lot of planning for an upcoming summer market.

More on that later… but just know that while I’ve been quiet, I’ve definitely been creating. 😊

• Some double stitching where my original stitching was a little too close to the edge

• Or little details that just aren’t 100% approved by my overly critical eye 😅

Apparently I cannot resist tiny vintage things 😂

I pulled a few of these miniature mugs and pitchers back out today while cleaning and got completely distracted admiring them again. There is just something about them that calls to me every single time. The details, the hand painting, the tiny handles… I mean how cute are they?!

But the little Meredith College mug will always be my favorite. Meredith is my alma mater as well as my mom’s so it is front and center on the little shelf I display these treasures.💛

I guess some people collect fine jewelry… I collect tiny pottery and little bits of nostalgia (among many other things😂)
