Things In Wood -by Mike Boettcher Welcome to Things In Wood where I display and market my woodturning art and turned household items. He operated under this name until 1990.

Things In Wood was started by my grandfather Don Shaffer in the 1980 in Hooper, Nebraska as a way to market his wood working and wood turned wares. My grandfather introduced me to wood turning in 1991 toward the end of his doing wood working. Don Shaffer pass on April 19, 1995. He was a kind, giving, and talented man and I strive to be as great of a person as he was. In October of 2009 I was invited to a Nick Cook wood turning class by Bert (Chuck) Frichot, a now close friend of mine. I was inspired to take up wood turning as a hobby and creative outlet and have been wood turning since. Thanks to Chuck I have been able to attend several of the best wood turning classes instructed by a few of the top current tuners. These include, Jimmy Clewes, Nick Cook, Jason Breach, Mike Jackofsky, Douglas Fisher, and Stephen Hatcher.
