Small bathroom? Big possibilities. 🚿

A smaller bathroom doesn’t mean you have to settle for a space that feels cramped.

A floating vanity allows you to see more of the floor, which instantly creates a greater sense of space. Clear shower glass keeps the room open, while a generously sized mirror reflects light beautifully.

Add larger tiles, a soft neutral palette and a touch of natural wood, and suddenly everything feels lighter and calmer.

It’s not always about making the room bigger. Sometimes it’s about making better decisions with the space you already have.

Dreaming of a bathroom makeover? Let’s create something beautiful together. 🤍

The secret to a beautiful neutral room? Texture. 🤍

A neutral room doesn’t have to feel boring. It just needs a little personality.

Think soft linen, chunky knitted throws, natural wood, woven baskets, beautiful ceramics and a cosy textured chair.

When you mix different materials, even a simple palette of cream, beige and taupe suddenly feels layered, warm and interesting.

You don’t need ten different colours or loads of décor. Sometimes you just need the right combination of things that make you want to reach out and touch them.

Tell me, are you a neutrals girl or do you love a splash of colour? 👇🏻

Your furniture doesn’t have to hug the walls 🛋️

Somewhere along the way, we all decided that every sofa needs to be pushed right up against a wall.

But sometimes that’s exactly why a room doesn’t feel comfortable.

Bringing your furniture slightly inward creates a proper conversation area and makes the space feel more connected. In an open-plan home, it can also help separate the lounge from the dining area without adding walls.

The secret is making sure you can still move around comfortably.

Your home should work for the way you actually live, not just look pretty in a photograph.

If your layout has you scratching your head, send me a message. I’d love to help. 🤍

Hang your curtains higher. Trust me. ✨

Want your room to look taller, softer and more expensive without knocking down a single wall?

Hang your curtains closer to the ceiling, not directly above the window.

And make sure they reach the floor. Curtains that stop halfway down the wall can make even a beautiful room feel a little unfinished.

Extend the curtain rail beyond both sides of the window too. It lets in more natural light and makes the window look bigger.

Honestly, it’s one of my favourite little design tricks because the difference is immediate!

Save this one for your next curtain update. 🤍

The Spare Bathroom — Small Details, Big Difference 🤍

A spare bathroom doesn’t need to be huge or over-designed to feel special. It just needs to be clean, practical and really welcoming for whoever is using it.

Think good lighting around the mirror, enough countertop space, somewhere obvious to hang a towel, a little storage for extra toilet paper and fresh towels, and a shower that actually has a spot for shampoo and toiletries — nothing fancy, just the things that make using the room easy.

Then you bring in the warmth. Soft towels, a lovely hand wash, a plant or two, a simple piece of artwork and a calm colour palette can completely change how the bathroom feels. I also love a basket with a few guest essentials tucked away — those tiny touches make people feel properly looked after.

The aim is for your guest to walk in and think, “Everything I need is right here.” ✨

And this is exactly why planning before renovating makes such a difference. The pretty finishes are important, but getting the layout, lighting, storage and everyday functionality right first is what makes a bathroom really work.

If your spare bathroom is feeling a bit tired, awkward or you simply don’t know where to start, I can help you pull the whole look together virtually — before you start buying tiles, taps and all the expensive bits. 🤍

One ceiling light is not a lighting plan 💡

If your lounge feels a little flat or clinical at night, it probably isn’t your furniture.

It’s your lighting.

A beautiful room needs layers: your main light for general brightness, a floor or table lamp for reading, and softer accent lighting to create atmosphere.

Think cosy corners, a warm glow on a shelf and lighting that makes you want to sink into the couch with a glass of wine. 🍷

And please, please choose warm bulbs! That icy white lighting isn’t doing anyone any favours.

The Spare Bedroom — Make Your Guests Want to Stay 🤍

A spare bedroom shouldn’t feel like the room where everything that doesn’t have a home gets dumped 😄 It should feel calm, comfortable and welcoming from the moment your guest walks in.

For me, the basics matter just as much as the pretty bits. A comfortable bed, proper bedside tables, good reading lights, curtains or blinds that actually give privacy, and enough space to unpack a few things already make a huge difference.

Then think about the things people genuinely need when they stay over — easy-to-reach plug points for charging phones, somewhere to put a suitcase, a mirror, a few hangers, a small drawer or shelf, and even a little spot for a glass of water at night.
These are the details that make the room feel considered, not just decorated.

Soft bedding, layered textures, warm lighting and a simple colour palette help create that relaxed “come in, put your bag down, you’re comfortable here” feeling.

And the best part? A spare room doesn’t need loads of furniture to work beautifully — it just needs the right pieces in the right places.

If your guest room is currently more “spare” than “bedroom”, I can help you turn it into a practical, welcoming space that still looks beautiful.

Ever looked at your lounge and thought, “Something just feels off,” but you couldn’t quite work out what it was?

Have a look at your rug. 👀

If it’s floating awkwardly in the middle of the room with all your furniture standing around it, chances are it’s too small.

A properly sized rug should allow at least the front legs of your sofa and chairs to rest on it. This pulls everything together, makes the room feel more spacious and creates that lovely, intentional look.

Such a small detail, but honestly, what a difference!

Not sure what size your space needs? Send me a message and let’s figure it out together. 🤍

The Teen Years — Their Room, Their Space 🤍

Once they hit the teenage years, their bedroom becomes so much more than just somewhere to sleep.

It’s where they study, get ready, scroll, listen to music, chill, shut the door for a bit 😄 and spend time with friends. It really becomes their space, so it needs to feel comfortable, practical and a little more grown-up.

I like keeping the main pieces timeless — a proper bed, a good desk, decent lighting and enough storage — and then letting their personality come through in the things that are easy to change, like bedding, artwork, cushions and accessories. Because we all know how quickly teenage tastes can change!

The goal is to create a room they love now, but one that can still take them comfortably through to 18 without having to redo everything again in a year or two.
If your teenager’s room is still feeling a bit too “kiddies room” and you’re not quite sure how to update it, I can help you pull it all together before you start spending.

A good plan first means fewer wrong buys, less wasted money and a room they’ll actually enjoy being in.

A Room That Grows With Them 🤍

Once they hit that 6–11 year stage, their room suddenly has to do a lot more than just look cute.

It’s their bedroom, reading corner, homework spot, play space and little escape all rolled into one… so it really needs to work for them.

I love keeping the room fun, but not too kiddies, so they don’t outgrow it five minutes later. A proper bed, easy storage, a desk that actually works, somewhere for books and all their bits and pieces — and then you bring in their personality with colour, artwork and accessories.

The trick is creating a room that feels like them now, but can still grow with them for a few years without having to redo everything again.

And if you’re staring at the room thinking, where on earth do I even start? — that’s where I come in. ✨

Virtual interior design makes it so much easier to plan first, buy second, and avoid those expensive “why did I buy that?” moments.
