_Maandag en die Braai-Droom_

Maandag slaan soos 'n nat slap tjop,
Werk lê dik soos pap op 'n pot se dop.
Ek sit in verkeer, my brein half gaar,
Drome van 'n rooster — dis nie eers snaaks, dis klaar!

My baas praat aan, ek hoor net "bla bla,"
Ek’s al klaar in my tuin, met tongs in my hand — ha ha!
Ek maak my oë toe, vat 'n diep asem in,
En daar’s hy... daai geur… daai boerewors begin spin.

Die rook trek so liggies oor die stoep,
Ek ruik die vet wat sis en die vleis wat roep.
'n Kiepie skree, maar ek's in my zone,
Ek's nie by die kantoor nie, ek's by my troon!

Die kole knetter soos ‘n WhatsApp-groep,
Almal praat, maar ek gee net om vir my sop-en-poep.
Ek’s die braaimeester, koning van kole,
Met 'n wors in die hand en ‘n dop in my drommelskole!

Maar toe... reality check — ek’s terug by my skootrekenaar,
Excel kyk my aan soos 'n stukkie gaar tartaar.
Maar dis fine, Maandag is kort,
En vanaand braai ek weer — my lewe is sport!

We never really need a reason to Braai. But a nice sunny Sunday afternoon sounds like a very good one to me.

Want the perfect braai fire? Follow these simple steps:

1. Pick your fuel:
Use dry wood or good-quality charcoal. Damp wood = sad fire.

2. Build your base:
Crumple a few sheets of newspaper or stack some firelighters in the center.

3. Stack it right:
Arrange your wood or charcoal in a teepee or pyramid shape around the firelighters — airflow is your best friend.

4. Light it up:
Spark the newspaper or firelighters and let the flames catch naturally. No need for crazy chemicals!

5. Be patient:
Let the fire burn down until you have a bed of glowing coals. This is where the magic happens.

6. Braai time!
Once you’ve got steady coals, you’re ready to throw on the meat!
