❤🏆Established in 1998 by a group of visionary parents, Up With Downs is a vital non-profit organization dedicated to providing specialized education and lifelong care for individuals with Down syndrome. Managed by parents under a Board of Trustees, the center works closely with families to unlock each child's unique potential through Individualized Education Programs. Beyond schooling, they offer a permanent adult residential home, iKhaya—giving parents profound peace of mind that their children will have a compassionate, lifelong safe haven.
As they look to the future, the organization is actively planning a new facility to provide much-needed extra accommodation for adults. However, managing daily specialized care while expanding means that maintaining their existing infrastructure is an uphill battle. Currently, two core classrooms and the administrative office are in urgent need of new, durable floor coverings to replace worn surfaces.
A floor and paint makeover would bring immediate comfort, safety, and a beautiful sense of dignity to these essential learning and therapeutic spaces. By refreshing the very heart of their current school, this upgrade would lighten the financial burden on the organization, allowing them to focus on their future housing expansion while ensuring their students learn and thrive in the warm, uplifting environment they truly deserve.
