WORLD ARCHITECTURE DAY
5 October 2026

Today, we pay homage to Arne Jacobsen, whose approach to architecture extended beyond the building itself.

In 1968, following an invitation from VOLA founder Verner Overgaard, Jacobsen created a new approach to the tap: the mechanics concealed within the wall, leaving only the handle and spout exposed.

Created for Denmark’s National Bank, VOLA distilled the design to pure geometry, proportion and function, with modularity built into its DNA.

Concealed plumbing.
Pure geometry.
Modularity.

More than half a century later, the thinking at VOLA still remains remarkably clear.

From 22–25 October, STILL LIFESTYLES pays homage to Arne Jacobsen and VOLA at Design Week Cape Town, celebrating innovative design.

A bathroom is designed in layers. The tiles, the accessories, the places colour is expected to live.

Chrome on the mixer is classic, and it always will be. But it is no longer the only way. Colour can now live on the tap itself, chosen with the same care as everything around it.

Put the colour where the hand goes.

Green, above all for us. The eye reads green faster and with less effort than any other colour, which is why a room wearing it feels calmer the moment you walk in. Colour psychology has a name for it, restoration… the easing of the mental fatigue a long day leaves behind. It is the shade the eye comes home to.
VOLA understands this, and the HV-01-06, a soft green, is a favourite of ours.
