The Haven is reaching the end of its rope, the end of the line, with me having paid in over 85% of the operation fees for the last 8 months. This include rent, fuel, food, etc.
We have other serious financial obligations too, and keeping the Haven has become non-viable - as I cannot keep up without increased support. I have placed a few fundraisers, I have placed posts for support...but with absolute minimal responses. A raffle with 7 entries. A post asking help with 2 responses.
We have stopped our feral collony rescues last year September allready, when the droughts hit. We have instead networked for homes for those wanting to surrender. I do still have some boarding, which will have their long term boarding stopped or reallocated as we reassess.
Over the next bit we will be reassessing some of the rabbits, sending many over the ๐. There are not many safe homes here for house rabbits, so adoptions will be very well scrutinized, and only to the younger able bodied ones we have. We have some really special medical cases, which I know for a fact cannot be rehomed, they will be part of those ๐ as I love them too much to see them regress or not properly cared for.
Rabbits are my passion, my life, but if we are clearly showed that there is no way forward, and that we are not supported, we unfortunately have no choice... I always stated that once food and basic needs become an issue, I will have to reassess. I cannot keep up with paying in the 85%.
Because of my autism and justice sensitivity, I struggle to create fabricated or embroidered, dramatized events of happenings for likes and views, like so many others do, and in fact, it came to a point where I stopped posting to avoid having people emotional and sending me their last money. I have never exploited my rabbits whatsoever, and only posted in the most extreme cases. I see a lot and deal with a lot, and because most people in my circle is as highly sensitive as me, I knew that the intense drama and horror I deal with often, can send some people over the edge. Because I care about these humans too, I refrained.
The people in my support groups also struggle immensely under the current extremely bad financial and economic situations. While they have hearts of gold, I also have to think of them. I am absolutely truely thankful to them, and i also saw its only the same few people each time... and I cannot ask anymore. I have to think of them too.
I know that I did all I could in my capacity, and that I often did more than I should have. I know I have cared too much. I know I have stayed up nights helping to save someone else's rabbits, and that I did my part in making this world better. I acknowledge that my social skills, my posting and my engagement are highly failed and subject to my autism, which became a hamper since I stopped masking. However, my outer quiet does not portray the immense amount of love, empathy and care I have for these special little ones.
In TRUE rescue, a rescuer would be absolutely grateful if there were no animals left to rescue. And how I wish that would one day happen. I want to thank each and everyone that has been part of our journey. You are amazing, and i hope you will be blessed forever.
I have seen the meat breeders from Uganda raking in international donations because of their horror they do the rabbits in their care, under "rescue" and this made me even more hesitant to post what i have seen and what we deal with in SA. And its part of my justice sensitivity.
It will take me about 2 months to ensure I do the best I can for everybun. Watch out for our adoption posts coming up soon?
Meanwhile, here I sit with clarity. Most of my projects are concluding.
Without monthly funds, without a bailout, we cannot carry on. I have asked and had no responses, so I am realistic. I cannot keep up with the 85% I pay in. My cup is as empty as our bank account. And my soul is tired of fighting to stay afloat. If I cannot feed them at least without constant worry, then,
THIS IS IT.
