These nine food businesses have embarked on a year-long journey designed to help turn bold food ideas into stronger, more sustainable businesses.

Through hands-on learning, mentorship, business development support, industry insights and access to market and community, each entrepreneur will have the opportunity to refine their offering, strengthen their foundations and build towards long term growth.

Meet BONTLE TSHOLE founder of Baaa Health 💚🍴

Baaa Health is a food and beverage company focused on improving
access to nutritious, functional foods in Africa. Founded by Bontle
Tshole, the business aims to reduce lifestyle-related diseases
through healthy, accessible products. Its range includes cold-
pressed juices, snack bars, and wellness products designed to
promote better eating habits and long-term health.

Meet BONITA CARR founder of Bon Bons💚🍴

BonBons, founded by Bonita Carr, is a gourmet food brand
producing handmade, small-batch pickled fruits and vegetables.
The business focuses on high-quality, seasonal ingredients and
sustainable practices, offering unique flavour combinations that
enhance dining, entertaining, and gifting experiences for conscious
consumers.

Meet HUDA SYSTER founder of Love Fresh Taste 💚🍴

Love Fresh Taste is a Cape Town-based catering business led by
Huda Syster, specialising in fresh, handcrafted meals for corporates,
events, and private clients. Known for its reliability, quality, and
generous portions, the business delivers consistent, made-to-order
meals and is positioned to scale into a broader food brand.

Meet MARY MAHUMA founder of VitraFruits 💚🍴

VitraFruits is a health-conscious food brand producing all-
natural dehydrated fruits, vegetable powders, and infused
products. The business focuses on sustainability by
reducing food waste and transforming surplus produce into
versatile, nutrient-rich products for everyday use across
health, culinary, and wellness markets.

A Sorghum Agenda Food Experience

As part of Food Indaba 2026, join award-winning chef Zandile Queen Finxa for Mosotho in the City—an intimate World of Mouth dining experience celebrating the flavours, traditions and wisdom of Basotho cuisine through the lens of sorghum.

From homemade mabele mageu and teff to slow-cooked family recipes, each course explores the connection between food, water, culture and community, inviting guests to gather, share stories and experience indigenous ingredients in thoughtful new ways.
