Furniture can be functional and sculptural in equal measure.

A distinctive silhouette, an unexpected proportion, or a strong profile can give a piece a presence beyond its function

Sometimes, a single piece is enough to anchor a room.

We love mixing old and new 🤍

An antique piece sits beautifully alongside contemporary furniture, while a modern piece can bring a fresh edge to an older interior.

It’s the contrast that makes it work.

West-facing windows are beautiful, but they can also turn a room into an oven by late afternoon.

If you’re renovating, think about solar control before choosing your finishes. External shading, blinds or the right glazing can make a big difference to how comfortable a room is.

It’s much easier to plan for than to fix later.

We love a good feature, especially when it’s stone.

Not just because it makes a space feel more luxurious (which it absolutely does), but because no two pieces are quite the same.

The veining and tonal variation can pull together all the different colours and materials in a space, creating a natural thread that runs through the room.

There’s only so much you can see from a floor plan.

Site visits are where we get to see what’s really happening, spot the things that need attention, make a few decisions on the fly and keep the whole project moving in the right direction.

It’s not always glamorous. There’s dust, noise and the occasional curveball, but it’s also one of our favourite parts of the process.

Our design language draws from the things that make living in South Africa distinctive.

Natural materials.
Strong connection to the landscape.
Indoor-outdoor living.
Local art and craft.
A mix of old and new.

The result doesn’t need to look traditionally South African to feel rooted here.

A few rules we’re happy to break:

Matching everything.
Playing it too safe.
Choosing the obvious piece.
Thinking every room needs to look “finished”.

Leave a little room for personality!

Your space gets its colour from artwork, timber, rugs, stone, upholstery.

A painting might introduce olive greens, walnut or oak can add warmth, while a patterned rug or wallpaper pulls several colours together.

A colour scheme doesn’t have to start with paint on the walls.

Identifying a clients’ special pieces and designing around that is always a project highlight.

It might be an antique dining table, a chair that’s been in the family for years, or a beloved artwork that’s traveled from one home to the next.

We’d much rather find a way to incorporate those pieces than replace them for the sake of a totally new interior.
