It’s carpet-installation day for Project Kotze.

The flooring was selected to complement the quieter, more tactile elements of the design.

We opted for a plush carpet from that adds comfort underfoot while allowing the other elements in the room to stand out.

We can’t wait to see the final product!

Today, we honour the brave young hearts of 1976 and celebrate the dreamers building tomorrow. Happy Youth Day, South Africa. 🇿🇦

Trends have their place, but we’re generally more focused on what will still feel relevant five, ten, or twenty years from now.

The most enduring spaces aren’t built around what’s popular at the moment. They’re built around proportion, materiality, comfort, and the way our clients actually live.

We love materials that improve with use!

Solid wood develops character. Waxed leather softens and deepens in tone. Natural stone wears in rather than out.

We’re always drawn to materials that feel lived in rather than overly polished. Spaces tend to feel warmer, calmer, and more grounded because of it.

We’re nothing if not practical, and our go-to materials in winter tend to be the ones that look great and wear well.

Textured stone adds depth and warmth, especially when natural light becomes softer and more directional.

Aged timber brings character and softness that newer, synthetic finishes sometimes lack.

Waxed leather develops a richness over time, while heavier upholstery fabrics help a space feel cosier.

These materials are less about trends and more about lasting functionality and practicality. They change the way a space feels in winter.

In winter, small decisions have a noticeable impact:

- Layered lighting instead of a single overhead source
- Materials that don’t feel cold underfoot
- Textured, breathable upholstery and window materials
- Proper sealing around doors and windows

This is the kind of work we focus on early.
