The heavy-body textures, the raw wooden panels, the missing links—everything just dropped on my doorstep. Which means the blueprint phase is officially over.

When you’re executing a massive creative comeback after a year away, preparation is only half the battle. Now, the real work starts. We have the canvases stacked, the geometric layouts locked in, and the heavy paint ready to fly. It's time to stop planning and start making.

Because a beautiful layout grid means nothing if you don't actually bring the texture.

A year-long hiatus looks like a full stop from the outside. But a pause isn't a failure—it's structural.

Think about a paper airplane. To make something that actually flies, you have to take a flat surface, press into it, and purposefully crease it. You have to fold it inward. That's what the last twelve months were for me: an intentional fold. I had to pull back, restructure, and design something streamlined.

The studio supplies are arriving in a few days, and when they do... we launch the entire strategy.

When you're preparing for a massive creative comeback after a year away from the studio, you don't wait around for the perfect setup. My heavy-body textures and wooden panels are still in transit, so today we are pivoting.

No room for excuses. We are changing the shape, pulling out the mini round canvases, and mapping out the blueprints before the heavy paint arrives.

If the vision isn't locked in before the background is wet, the whole idea falls apart.

We expect returning to our passion to feel completely effortless—like a soft brush gliding perfectly across a canvas. But the reality? When you’ve been away for a long time, your mind and your tools can feel completely rigid, stiff, and locked up.

Breaking through that initial creative block isn’t elegant. It requires a literal force of will. Sometimes, you have to be willing to aggressively slam that hardened brush down, splay the bristles, and make a massive mess just to force it back to life.

You have to break the stiffness before you can find your flow again.

We always romanticize the creative process—the fluid brushstrokes, the perfect studio lighting, the effortless flow of inspiration. But nobody talks about the physical, stubborn friction of just trying to get started.

When you’ve been away from your passion for a while, everything feels locked up. Sometimes, the hardest battle of the entire day isn't even the painting itself—it's literally gripping a pair of pliers just to crack open a dried-shut tube of paint.

But that first crack, that initial break in the rust? That’s where the comeback actually begins. The first twist is always the hardest.

There is something deeply symbolic about taking a razor to an old wooden palette and stripping it down to the bare wood.

It’s loud, it’s brutal, and it takes actual physical force. But you can’t build a new foundation if you’re still trying to paint over the old, chaotic layers.

Why I had to ban myself from my own art supplies.

I’ve officially put myself on a ban from using my own art supplies. 🛑 It sounds ridiculous, but when the pressure to create something "perfect" turns into total panic, sometimes the hardest thing to do is just pick up the brush.

Staring at a beautiful, clean layout of tools can be incredibly intimidating when you're struggling to find your creative voice again. But part of healing from burnout is realizing that the mess is where the magic happens.

To anyone else struggling to make something today: let's give ourselves permission to mess up. ❤️
