Vertical Safety Systems

🎄 It’s October, and it's already almost over!

But if you need equipment before the end of the year, now is the time to get those orders in.

The closer we get to December, the busier things get. Stock, suppliers, couriers and festive season schedules can all start working against you, and nobody wants to be sitting in December wondering where their order is.

So consider this your friendly little nudge from the VSS team:
If you need it this year, order it now. 😉

Get your orders in early and give yourself plenty of time to have your gear where you need it before the year wraps up.

Some rescue routes are anything but straight.

Meet the Kong Rolly.

A rollable stretcher designed for confined spaces and those awkward, tight, complicated places where getting an injured person out is anything but simple.

And when you need a little more from the setup, the KONG Trimmer is available separately to add to the system.

Flexible. Compact. Ready when the route gets tricky.

🖤 All black. No, it's not just for the aesthetic.

Colour is one of the most important considerations when selecting equipment for military and special forces applications?

VSS stocks a range of black tactical gear, from harnesses and helmets to carabiners, gloves and pulleys.

Stealthy? Maybe. Purposeful? Definitely.

Harness? Yes. Tactical tool? Also yes.

The SINGING ROCK ock Tactic Master is designed for special forces, with a fully adjustable setup, MOLLE attachment system and the flexibility to work over a ballistic vest.

Built for movement, positioning and getting the job done without the harness getting in the way.

Not your average kit list.

When the job takes you into demanding environments, the gear needs to be ready for it.

Harnesses. Ropes. Descenders. Pulleys. Helmets. Lights. Rescue equipment.

The VSS Military & Special Forces range brings together the equipment needed for the vertical side of tactical work.

🧰 Not all harness attachment points are created equal.

One catches you.
One holds you.
One hangs you.
One rescues you.

Think of your harness like a toolbox. Every attachment point has a purpose. Knowing which one to use is just as important as wearing the harness in the first place.

💥 EN 361 catches you.
🔧 EN 358 holds you.
🪢 EN 813 hangs you.
🚑 EN 1497 rescues you.

The numbers aren't there to confuse you. They're there to help you choose the right equipment for the job.

The challenge is that "a harness" doesn't tell us how it will be used. Is it for Fall Arrest? Work Positioning? Rope Access? Rescue? Each application requires different features and different safety certifications.

🧗 A few great days spent with South Africa's adventure industry.

The 3rd Annual SA Adventure Industry Association -SA AIA Conference brought together adventure operators, guides, trainers, and industry professionals from across the country to share ideas, improve standards, and learn from one another.

The VSS team was proud to host a practical workshop on rescue systems for high ropes courses, exploring different rescue techniques, harness configurations, and equipment designed to make rescue operations safer and more efficient.

A huge thank you to SAAIA for another fantastic event, and to everyone who joined us. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

🔄 Small wheel. Serious workload.

Single pulleys keep systems fast, compact, and efficient. Double pulleys come into their own when building larger hauling systems, where extra rope management and mechanical advantage are needed.

Most of the pulleys in our range are designed for 11 mm to 13 mm ropes, while our specialised zipline pulleys are engineered to run on steel cable for adventure applications.

Whether it's a compact Singing Rock Extra Plus Pulley, a KONG Mini Twin Pulley, or the At Height Swivel Pulley 36KN Double, choosing the right pulley starts with understanding the system you're building.
