HERITAGE
On this our SA Heritage Day I ask,
What is heritage ?
Is it our geography?
Is it our ancestry?
Is it our DNA ?
Is it our spiritual evolution ?
I am 5th generation South African, from a lineage of fearless pioneers. Part Anglo, part Saxon, part Nord, part Slavic. And yet I am AFRICAN.

Daughter of a model mother and a musician father, a kind of rock n roll classic cover story! Young adults having kids! Generations so close together we almost grew up together.
This is my legacy. The awe and gratitude to be able to be part of this heritage, this inherited drive, this inherited zest. This inherited love in this lifetime.

The virtue of grace in seeing those who, in my lineage, came before me, in this realm and in the next, leaving a wake and paving the way for me to be free in this life to see all of life for the connected multi faceted - multi dimensionality that it is.
This is Heritage.

HAPPY NELSON MANDELA DAY

Aka, our MADIBA ! 🇿🇦
May we all walk the path of resilience, forgiveness, humility and an unwavering dignity and pride in the very nature of being a human being.
MY DAD Cedric Samson wrote this Grammy nominated song for our Madiba! For The Nelson Mandela -De Klerk movie.

Here he performs it with South African greats for Madiba’s 90th birthday celebrations at The Cape Town Stadium, some years ago! 🥳

That’s my Ceddy! Conducting the choir and all the musicians from his legendary, world class drum kit !!
And my then - 15 year old brother Matt Sam
Dad - no one can do it like you do 🎼🎹🤍🎼🤍🎹

The other day my son asked me who I think is the most famous person in the world (our world- right now, relatable)
My answer was this human.

Madiba, may your spirit live on through us South Africans, touching fellow humans the world over.

THE CHORAL COLLECTIVE

My daughter has been on her choir tour to France and Spain, and on Tuesday the group won the Grand Prix first prize at The Golden Voices of Barcelona !!

I am just so incredibly proud of her and the team’s achievement. They have worked so hard for months!

The power of Music, sound, frequency and singing in the collective is such a moving experience that allows us to really feel connected to something much bigger than ourselves.
I feel so blessed to be able to enable this journey for her 🎼🤍🎼
You go my little song bird !

I’ll never forget it,,Lily literally hummed herself to sleep, holding her ear, on the very first night we took her home after she was born , the first night that we tried to get her used to the difference between day sleep and night sleep..
She’s been humming or singing ever since !

As I reflect on the holiday today in South Africa, (not taken lightly)…
I take time out for myself to mine the gold within, Quietly at 528hz, the frequency to raise positive vibrations of love.

I’m feeling the vastness of the void in the quiet space between meditative breaths. Grateful for all, grateful 🙏

Lily and I took a trip out yesterday to buy some personal treats for today’s quiet time, and this little mask may just do the trick to enhance that wellbeing feeling !

CHAPTERS END SO NEW ONES CAN BEGIN

46 years of my family life in the beautiful town of draws to a close.
My mom, ex model and ex property developer, pioneer and brave hearted warrior, moved my brother and I down to the coastal town of Hermanus in 1980.
As a single mom she envisage a life for us where we could have the freedom to jump on our bikes, get ourselves to school, extra murals and to friends, giving her the comfort in our safety to focus on building our lives.
46 years later the little village, no longer a sleepy retirement hollow, where the only teen action was eating ice cream on the old harbour wall, is now a flourishing micro city. Driving your jeep down the plaat is no longer legal, crayfish licenses are a drag and limited, and the quiet secrets the village held have become mainstream IG content. (Said post)
It is with great gratitude, to the experience that made my extraordinary childhood prosper, that I say goodbye to our family home and all the joy of life in that specific geography that came with it.
And most importantly a very public declaration of love and unbelievable luck of having my mother choose that life for us 🙏🫶🥂😎

And now is the business of writing the beginning of new chapters.
