Charity Chair Makeover

Stage 2 - Painting

- Gave the chair 2 coats of Polka Botanique. Must say that Polka paint stands up to its marketing claims as advertised .... it goes on like silk and is self leveling. You see absolutely no brush marks!
- I've decided not to paint the existing upholstery fabric for it frayed terribly after the wash. Im going to recover it with material on hand and then beautify it with Polka paint. That's only happening the weekend though for I don't have a stapler and my son can only bring me his then.

If you haven't tried Polka Paint's yet you need to test it. Im sure you'll get hooked too 😉

Charity Chair Makeover
Over the next couple of days I'm going to post every stage I take to give this little orphan a second chance on life. So keep a look out for them.

Stage 1 - Prep work

- the wood parts was thoroughly cleaned with sugarsoap. I used a sponge with a light scourer to remove any greasy/oily residue. The chair was rinsed throughly afterwards.

- Started filling the hole with woodfiller one layer at a time. Waiting for each layer to dry before adding the next layer. Once all done I will sand it into shape.

- Then the fun part started ...... applying the 1st coat off the best ever primer on the market, Granny B's Block 'n Tackle Multi Purpose Primer. 1st coat has to dry for an hour before applying the 2nd coat. This has to dry for a further 4 hours.

- Im not replacing the upholstery instead im going to paint it. So it needed a good scrub and vacuum.

Happenings at Homemade with Heart ........

I’m currently busy doing the next stage of re-loving an old 80's pine table after painting it with Granny B's Old Fashioned Paint ............... distressing!

Personally, I like to do this before waxing/sealing for its less effort and does not clog up your sandpaper, even though it creates a lot of dust. I sand using 220 or 80 grit sandpaper – I do not use a power sander for I like to ‘feel’ the piece while sanding.

For me this is the fun part being covered in paint dust, brings back so many blissful childhood memories.

Finally finished and hanging with pride by my coffee bar so I can manifest being a farm girl whenever I make myself a cuppa ........... and that's many times a day 😅

As you can see after trying red and brown I finally decided on Granny B's Old Fashioned Paint 'Poison Ivy' green with some red peeping through. As Funky Finds said: green for harmony.

All the comments on my video post are so much appreciated, thank you 👏 .
