In 1994 Jeremy and June opened The Old Corkscrew in Franschhoek, a picturesque town which is nestled in the Winelands of the Western Cape in South Africa. Now known as the gourmet capital of South Africa, it is a firm favourite for those visitors to Cape Town who expect nothing but the best. A comfortable fifty minute drive from Cape Town city centre allows one to enjoy lunch or dinner in one of t

he many award winning wine farms or the magnificent restaurants in the town itself. This coupled with a visit to The Old Corkscrew has become a highlight for many of our local and international visitors. Due to its location in this wine producing area, many wine related antiques can be found, including Africa's largest collection of antique corkscrews. Also included is a large selection of silver, as well as porcelain, glass, copper and furniture.
