Your next favourite sweater could be sitting in your yarn basket. 👀🧶
𝗣𝗡𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮 𝗢’𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗹 shows us how to crochet this gorgeous granny stitch V-neck sweater from the top down, giving you the freedom to adjust the fit and length as you go. 💚
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻?
🧶 STEPS:
1️⃣ Start at the neckline
Crochet in the round to begin forming your yoke.
2️⃣ Shape the V-neck
Work even increases along the neckline and shoulders to create the shape.
3️⃣ Build the yoke
Continue increasing until it reaches the right depth for your size.
4️⃣ Separate the sleeves
Divide your stitches into the body and sleeves, setting the sleeve stitches aside for later.
5️⃣ Crochet the body
Continue working in rounds until your sweater reaches your preferred length.
6️⃣ Add the sleeves
Return to each sleeve and crochet in the round, adjusting the length to suit you.
7️⃣ Finish the edges
Add neat ribbed edging to the neckline, cuffs and hem.
8️⃣ Finish & block
Weave in your loose ends and block your sweater for a smooth, even drape.
And just like that… you’ve crocheted yourself a sweater!
💡 ANTHEA’S PRO TIP:
Try your sweater on regularly as you work. One of the best things about crocheting top-down is being able to adjust the fit as you go.
