YELLOW IS THE COLOUR OF JOY, SUNSHINE AND HAPPINESS!
When starting a new project, my clients receive a few design quizes to help pinpoint their design style. We use the quizes during consultation to plan their design journey.
This client was very particular, especially regarding the use of colour. She wanted white walls, white cabinetry, possibly white cement floors, and a must-have: Tretchikoff inspired wall "some where".
Yellow was one of the colours she did not really favour. Guess what? Somewhere along the way, she discovered that she really does love colour, and LOTS of colour!😍
Behind the scenes: the yellow vanity in the Tretchi room was installed, and everone loved it! BUT the white cabinetry in the bedroom accidentally also ended up being yellow - needless to say, the yellow was a hit! 😅
Feeling inspired by the beautiful happy yellow, my client sent me this poem - too beautiful not to share:
"Ek was nog altyd 'n bietjie jaloers op geel. Seker omdat my ma altyd gesê het ek kan nie geel dra nie.
Amper my hele lewe lank het geel my kop laat draai.
Geel lag altyd.
Geel gee nie 'n hel om wat ander d**k nie.
As geel sou kon praat sou dit sê, "jy hou van my of jy hou nie van my nie. Altwee is fine met my."
Ek d**k God het 'n plan gehad met geel.
Ek d**k die natuur giggel in geel.
Die son belowe in geel.
Die seisoene groet in geel.
En net nou die dag sien ek 'n Mosterd plantjie.
Goudgeel.
Ek d**k die kleur van Glo is geel.
Mag Glo ook goudgeel in jou lewe lag."
