We hear this one a lot. Spending more feels like the safe option, but the most expensive floor in the showroom can still be the wrong one for your room.
Solid timber is beautiful, and it's a poor match for an entrance where people walk in wet. Mid-range vinyl would cope better in that spot and cost less.

And whatever you buy, the preparation and installation underneath count for as much as
the product.
