We are so excited to share this episode of Klein Sake, Groot Drome that tells the story behind Litehouse. (For our global audience that means Small Business, Big Dreams ✨)

Litehouse all began by a team based in Cape Town, South Africa, co-founded in 2020 by brothers Kevan and Mike Van der Velde 🇿🇦 It began as a passion project for quality outdoor lighting and has grown into an outdoor ambience brand with one simple mission: to create spaces where people want to gather, connect and stay a little longer.

Real connection matters more than ever. Creating spaces where friends, family and even strangers want to gather is what drives everything we make. From solar lighting to infrared heating, every product is designed to set the mood, keep the conversation flowing and help the night stretch on, because when the atmosphere is right, people linger longer. ✨

Why does a dinner table lit in warm light just feel better?

It’s not just atmosphere - it’s science. Warm white light (around 2700K which all Litehouse lights are) mimics candlelight, softening shadows, flattering skin tones, and making food look richer and more appetising. Cooler, blue-toned light does the opposite — it reads as clinical, not celebratory.
