Overwhelmed by Renovation Choices?
Here’s how to simplify your design direction.

1. Begin with your values
What matters most to you — sustainability, simplicity, connection to nature? Let your core values shape your space.

2. Prioritise how you want to feel
Design for the feeling you want your home to evoke. Calm, grounded, inspired? Let that guide your material and layout choices. Your space should reflect and support your emotional wellness.

3. Edit, then edit again
Mindful design isn’t about more — it’s about meaningful. Let go of what doesn’t align with your vision (or your values).

✨ Remember: Your home should support your life, not complicate it.

It’s my job to “sweat the small stuff”

They say design consists of a million small decisions, and these small decisions are what bring the vision to life. As designers, our job is not just to envision but also to bring the vision to life. It's our job to make sure that each small decision that may seem inconsequential to others is carried out how it is meant to. This is where the difference lies; this is how quality is formed.

It’s not just me who prides myself on focusing on the smallest details, but also my team—those whom I choose to work with. My contractors are meticulous, not skipping anything, no matter how small, and my suppliers take pride in what they create.

The same goes with me, noticing small details about my clients, asking the questions to understand them, and spending the time to get to know them. This results in delivering a space that meets their needs beyond what they could communicate to us, a space that is created truly for them and infused with their essence.

We “sweat the small stuff” so you don’t have to, and you can feel assured that we care deeply, and it shows in the spaces we create and in the experience of working with me and my team.

When designing a sustainable and eco-conscious space, the materials we choose play a huge role. Let’s take a closer look at four materials that are both sustainable and versatile.

Reclaimed Wood: Reclaimed wood is a fantastic choice for sustainable design, as it repurposes old timber that would otherwise end up in landfills. Each piece carries its own unique character. Plus, using reclaimed wood reduces the need for new timber, helping to preserve forests and reduce the carbon footprint of harvesting fresh wood.

Cork: Cork is one of the most renewable materials on the planet. Harvested from the bark of cork oak trees without cutting them down, it’s a material that grows back quickly and can be harvested every 9-12 years. Cork is naturally biodegradable, lightweight, and water-resistant. It’s also great for sound insulation and temperature regulation, bringing both sustainability and comfort to your home.

Bamboo: Bamboo is another incredibly sustainable material. As one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, it can be harvested in just a few years, making it an excellent renewable resource. It is versatile, and its fast-growing nature means it has a minimal environmental impact compared to hardwoods. It’s also naturally antimicrobial and resistant to pests, which makes it a great choice for a healthier home.

Natural Stone: Natural stone, like granite, marble, and slate, has been used in architecture for centuries due to its beauty and durability. As a material, it’s naturally abundant and requires little processing, making it a sustainable choice when sourced responsibly. Stone is long-lasting, low-maintenance, and adds a timeless elegance to any design. It will stand the test of time, reducing the need for replacements.

These four materials are just a few examples of the sustainable options that can be incorporated into your home. When working with our clients to select finishes, our goal is to help them choose materials that will not only stand the test of time but also serve them for years to come. While we are passionate about championing sustainable materials, we also recognize that sometimes they may not be the best fit for every space. In those cases, we will recommend alternatives that better suit the specific needs and functionality of the area, ensuring both longevity and practicality.

Going Beyond the Basics: A Holistic Approach to Interior Design ✨

As an interior designer, I don’t just ask the standard questions you’d expect in a consultation. While those questions are important, I go deeper, peeling back the layers to truly understand you and your needs.

My approach is more than about just designing a beautiful space; it’s about envisioning how you’ll live in it and how it can nurture your life. I like to engage with my clients intuitively, asking questions that come to me as I’m in the space with them, really soaking in the energy, flow, and potential of the environment. It’s in these moments of connection that the magic happens.

I also guide my clients through a visionary exercise that helps bring their dreams for the space to life in a meaningful, grounded way. This exercise has proven extremely powerful, allowing us to explore desires, needs, and possibilities beyond the surface.

At the heart of this process is a desire to create spaces uniquely aligned with how you live, feel, and need. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about designing for life, for connection, and for the future.

Season Synching for a nourishing home

Interior design should be more than just aesthetics—it’s about creating spaces that nourish your mind, body, and spirit, while honoring the environment. Synching with seasons by making small tweaks that support the rhythms of the seasons is something we encourage our clients to do.

Autumn invites us to slow down, reflect, and connect with nature. Here are some tips on how you can create your space to allow you to do that.

🍂Grounding & warmth: Create a cozy environment by incorporating warmer colours into your home. We don’t suggest changing out your decor as that is not aligned with our sustainability values but you could perhaps just add a chunky knitted blanket in a warm tone. Not only is it practical but it also will bring textures and warm colours into your space.

🍂Seasonal Greenery: Incorporating seasonal plants and flowers into your space that match the landscapes on the outside will connect your home with the earth’s seasonal cycles. Use them to create beautiful, natural displays on tables, shelves, and mantels.

🍂Mindful Spaces: With the change of season, it’s important to reflect on your space’s energy. Consider decluttering and repurposing items, choosing pieces that support mental well-being and relaxation. Whether it’s a cozy reading nook or a calming meditation corner, your space should offer a place to unwind.

One of the ways we embrace sustainability in our studio is by reusing and repurposing existing furniture and decor. I strive to make the most of what we already have, either by using items as-is or by refurbishing them to suit the space. For pieces we decide not to keep, I encourage clients to sell them, giving them a second life.

I also love hunting for second-hand treasures—there are so many hidden gems that add a unique, personal touch to any space. Incorporating thrifted finds or heirlooms not only creates a more curated look but also brings in stories that make a room feel truly special.

Interior design is the art and science of considering every detail—from layout and lighting to proportion, scale, material choices, and furniture selection. It’s about creating a space that is tailored to the people who will use it, understanding their lifestyle and needs.

By focusing on how they will interact with the space and offering solutions that promote seamless flow, we can create functional and adaptable environments for future habits they may wish to develop. When it comes to aesthetics, the thoughtful use of color, finishes, and personal decor elements will infuse the space with character and evoke meaningful emotions.

Lately, I’ve been envisioning a place that perfectly fits a few of my daily needs, all in one beautiful, green space.

Picture this: workbenches to sow and nurture seedlings, cabinets to organize all your herbal treasures, and a cozy corner to meditate, journal, or curl up with a good book. There’s also a versatile table that serves as your go-to spot for working, eating, painting, sketching, or enjoying tea with a friend. It’s a place to reflect, create, and recharge—whether you’re inside or stepping out into nature.

Honestly, this feels like a dream I’m ready to make a reality! If you’re dreaming of a similar space, I’d love to help bring it to life.

From initial concept to sourcing everything including the plants and seeds, plus full project management, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

I’m deeply fascinated by human behavior and its influence on design. This is why, during every design consultation, I take the time to understand not only how my clients currently use their space, but how they envision using it in the future.

I explore the challenges they face—sometimes ones they don’t even realize are the root cause of their discomfort—and work with them to identify new habits they’d like to cultivate. Together, we design spaces that support and nurture those goals, enhancing both their lifestyle and well-being.

I take a holistic approach to design, one that I believe is often overlooked in traditional interior design. Rather than treating the human experience as an afterthought, I place it at the heart of the design process, ensuring the space truly serves the multi-dimensional needs of those who will use the space.

At the heart of every space I create is the belief that design can foster connection. Whether connecting with loved ones, nurturing your inner self, or harmonizing with nature, a well-designed space can bring it all together.

The belief that design can foster connection is at the heart of every space I create. Whether connecting with loved ones, nurturing your inner self, or harmonizing with nature, a well-designed space can bring it all together.

When a space is thoughtfully crafted to reflect the needs and dreams of those who inhabit it, it becomes more than just a place—it becomes a sanctuary. 💫

Through sustainable materials, biophilic principles, and a deep understanding of how we interact with our surroundings, I design spaces that not only look beautiful but also support the well-being of the people who live in them.

One of my main goals is to help my clients to have healthier spaces. This is done with a holistic approach that appeals to all the senses and makes greener choices.

Over the next few months, I will be sharing some tips on how to make your home more eco-friendly and healthier in each space within your home. Today we are starting with the kitchen.

🏡Improve your energy efficiency. When buying new select energy-efficient appliances, lighting and if consider replacing your kitchen windows. Use natural light as much as you can over artificial lighting.

🏡Talking about efficiency, let’s talk about the function of your space. A well-designed space will help your space feel maximised even if it is a small space. I would also remove the clutter and organise the kitchen.

🏡When choosing your finishes and flooring choose more eco-friendly and low VOC options. An example of this would be using reclaimed wood for cupboards and counters, low VOC paint products, and choosing the right finishes for your space and how they will be used. Choosing more sustainable and durable products is key.

🏡Be water-wise: fix any leaks and consider replacing the faucet to a more low-flow one. Form habits such as washing fruit and veg off in a bowl and then using that same water on your plants.

🏡If you are renovating your kitchen think about what you can reuse instead of getting rid of. For example, could you perhaps paint your kitchen cupboard instead of ripping it out

🏡Use eco-friendly cleaning products: swap out those nasty chemical-heavy products that cause harm to your body and to the planet. There are so many eco-friendly products now that are available to purchase or you could make your own ones.
Swap Teflon cookware and silicone cooking utensils out for cast iron or stainless steel to cook in and bamboo or wooden options. Not only will these last longer but they are also healthier options for you as other cookware leeches harmful chemicals once coming in contact with heat.

🏡Look at your overall waste and find ways to improve it. Start a compost bin, meal plan smartly and eat your leftovers, ditch single-use plastics, and recycle what you can. Stop using paper towels and use washable clothes instead. These are just a few examples of how you can improve it.
