Dry Bones Decor Hand crafted skull home and garden decor Why Skulls? We as humans assign meaning to objects in an attempt to make our understanding of the world “smoother”.

We use these items as “shortcuts” in our brains to make sense of everything around us. Depictions of skulls, whether it be jewellery, clothing tattoos or decoration, is no longer about being cool, morbid or scaring one’s grandmother, but have taken to mean something more than death for most people in mainstream culture. We, at Dry Bones Décor, in our own right, have quite a few battle scars that l

ife brought us and have come to adopt the following skull imageries. Mortality:
realising that death is inevitable brings about a renewed focus to make the most of life, every day. Celebration of Life:
It reminds us of those that we have lost to death, acknowledging that they existed and mattered. Protection:
The skull’s main function is to protect the most important organ, our brain! And using a skull is only natural to symbolise this. Bravery:
For hundreds of years skulls have been symbolic pieces for tough people ( think of pirates, soldiers etc.) It symbolises that we can bravely withstand every challenge that life throws at us. As with symbols everywhere, there is no universal representation of what a skull means. We accept and respect the fact that not all people will view skulls in the same way as us but do hope that reading the above will give some understanding as to why we choose skulls to bring meaning to life.

A massive shout-out to our fantastic hosts, 1313 Mac's Familia Pietersburg, for throwing a epic Day Jol on Saturday, 30 May 2026. We had an absolute blast catching up with old pals, making some new friends, and showcasing our delightfully dodgy creations to anyone who dared to stop by. To everyone who braved our stall and gave Dry Bones Decor a thumbs up - cheers! We're thrilled to have such awesome people supporting us. We'll be at the 1313 Mac's Familia Pietersburg Day Jol at Hiesterhof today from 9am till late.

Fresh stock. Empty eye sockets. Endless charm.

The crypt doors are opening....

Dry Bones Decor will be at the 1313 Mac's Familia Pietersburg Day jol on Saturday, 30th May 2026 at Hiesterhoff Polokwane from 9am until late.

Come spend the day with us surrounded by good people, roaring motorcycles, questionable life choices, brotherhood, fun, excitement... and of course, our wonderfully macabre creations forged in the shadows of our workshop.

There will be a entry fee of R100.00, but honestly, that is a small sacrifice to pay for a full day of entertainment, camaraderie, and enough chrome, leather, skulls and chaos to keep your soul happy for weeks.

We will be there with our handcrafted pieces and the usual collection of things your grandmother would probably disapprove of.

We know...we're terrible at social media. While some crafters post every coffee, every lunch break, every "look at us working" selfie, and every inspirational quote floating through the void of the internet, we disappear into our workshop like Victorian grave robbers with a deadline.
The truth is: if we're quiet, it usually means we're elbow-deep in bone dust, making something questionable, casting skulls, or working on one of our wonderfully macabre ideas for our next exhibition.
So, if we missed your comment, replied late, or accidentally gave off "being ghosted" energy, it's not personal. We're not ignoring you. We are just busy making the stuff that actually matters. We may be socially awkward creatures... but we will always announce where and when we will emerge from the crypt to exhibit again.
