Renowned artist Kathryn van Schalkwyk facilitates two art classes a week at the Studio Castle Gate, one on Friday mornings and the other on Saturday afternoons.

Kathryn’s talent and works have been widely recognised numerous times including becoming an Associate of the Watercolour Society Africa (WSA), being awarded for Cream of the Crop, Best on Show, Highly Commended and various merit awards at the National and Grand Prix Exhibitions of the WSA and the Art Society Africa (ASA). In 2004 Kathryn became the first higher associate of the society in South Africa and was also elected as a fellow.

Kathryn’s ability to be objective, uplifting, positive and creative in the critique sessions of her students’ artwork has lifted novice students to the level of sustainable, reputable artists. Her expertise in a wide range of mediums makes her classes popular with beginners as well as experienced art students. Students commend her individual attention and care to each student, set in small personal art classes in comfortable and appealing settings like The Studio.

Come join Kathryn at The Studio at Castle Gate and learn how to draw and paint in various media with one of the most successful and admired art teachers in South Africa.
