Since reopening less than 6 weeks ago The Bright Eyes Trust has been met with an unprecedented number of enrolment enquiries, care complaints and requests for support services. In line with our core mission we have taken the decision to relaunch our ECD project. The short term aim is to make quality ECD services accessible to the visually impaired, thereafter our long term goal is to provide the highest level of care and education to the visually impaired community irrespective of their socio-economic challenges.
Our visually impaired children are at risk and this problem can no longer be ignored.
Join us as we learn about this crisis from the team members on the front line:
Carron Strachan : Co-founder of the Bright Eyes Trust and Centre Co-Ordinator
With more than 20 years of experience working with the visually impaired Carron is uniquely positioned to understand the current challenges our visually impaired children face when attempting to access quality education services. Being a visually impaired person herself Carron knows where the current shortfalls in our educational settings are and how we can correct these.
Cathryn Aylett : Project Co-ordinator and Teacher with a special interest in Inclusion
Over the last 4 years Cathryn has experienced first-hand the challenges faced by parents in the process of accessing early education services for visually impaired children. An explorative study on the types of ECD settings available, the quality of early intervention services and the accessibility of these services has driven the action plan behind the decision to relaunch an ECD service from Bright Eyes Centre
Sharon Sweet: Pre-school Programme Principal and Early Intervention Programme Volunteer
A force in the world of early education, Sharon brings to the table extensive knowledge on educating the young child. Her enthusiasm and passion make her the ideal candidate to head this project. Sharon understands the value of an individualised approach and her experience as a lecturer and educational leader brings to the table the skillset required to successfully train and educate parents and caregivers.
We hope to see you at this encouraging gathering of like minds
