As promised… the final result. ✨🔥
The Infinity Bowl.

What began as a massive glass slab became a flowing sculptural form through hours of cutting, shaping, pushing, grinding, and polishing by hand.

Total of 6 days in the kiln - fusing the slab and dropping the shape out.
2 days of grinding & polishing the underside of the slab
4 hours removing the counterweights.
4 hours grinding and shaping the edges.
4 hour polishing and refining the finished piece

Every line bends and moves like the glass is still in motion — frozen mid-flow. The reflections change from every angle, making the piece feel alive in the light. 💙❤️

This is what makes kiln-formed glass so addictive:
you start with something rigid and heavy… and somehow end with movement.

Worth every exhausting minute. 🙌

4 hours. Soaked through. One massive glass drop-out. 💙🔥

What you don’t see in the finished piece are the sweaty aprons, tired arms, teamwork, and determination behind it. Cutting the drop-out off this slab of glass took four hours — and by the end, everyone was absolutely dripping. 😅

Glass has a way of teaching patience. It doesn’t rush for anyone. But moments like these remind us that some of the most beautiful results come from teamwork, persistence, and showing up even when you’re tired.

The behind-the-scenes moments are often the hardest… and the most rewarding. ✨

THE HANDS BEHIND THE GLASS

This is Tish.

And we are incredibly privileged to have her join the team.

Tish doesn’t just work with glass — she challenges what people believe glass can be. Through mixed media and storytelling, she transforms a material often seen as fragile into something powerful, interactive, and deeply human.

Her work is inspired by lived experiences, indigenous games, and the stories that connect us — creating art that invites people not just to look, but to engage.

Over the past few years, Tish has built an extraordinary artistic journey, with 2025 marking a particularly remarkable chapter.

She was honoured with a National Art and Culture Award for Outstanding Visual Artist, received the Keys to the Museum Award from the South African Museums Association, was nominated as a Top 125 Artist, became a Glass Art Society (GAS) Emerging Artist nominee, joined the Spier Creative Block programme, and participated in the 2025 Paris Art Expo – 4th International Edition.

Following her studio assistantship at the Chrysler Museum of Art, Perry Glass Studio, her journey continues to grow across both local and international spaces.

But beyond the achievements, what stands out most is her curiosity, her willingness to keep learning, and her ability to see possibility where others see limits.

Some artists create beautiful work.

Others change the conversation.

Tish is doing both.

Fused Glass - Heat & Technique #15

Those bubbles aren’t random…
they’re chemistry.

Bicarbonate of soda releases gas when heated —
and once your glass softens, that gas gets trapped inside.

That’s how you get:
• Big domed bubbles
• Fine champagne bubbles
• Organic, unpredictable textures

It looks beautiful… but it’s not always controlled.

This is the difference between intentional design and chemical reaction in fused glass.

If you understand it — you can choose it.
If you don’t — it will choose for you.

✨ Save this if you’re learning glass fusing
💬 Have you ever tried creating bubbles on purpose?

When we started this journey, it was never just about selling glass.

It was about building a space where artists, makers, and studios could learn, create, experiment, and feel inspired.

Today our page reached 1,000 followers — and we just wanted to say THANK YOU.

Whether you’ve purchased glass, attended a workshop, shared a post, asked questions, or quietly followed along… thank you for being part of Lea’s Loft.

We’re excited about what’s still coming:

💙 More inspiration
💙 More education
💙 More beautiful glass
💙 More ways to help artists and studios succeed

“We don’t just sell glass. We help studios and artists succeed with it.”

FROM THE KILN ✨

From planning…
to precision cutting…
to fusing…
to slumping…
to something that feels almost impossible once the kiln opens.

Every curve was calculated.
Every pocket carefully shaped.
Every firing a risk.

And somehow… flat sheets of glass became flowing sculptural beauty.

That’s the magic of kilnformed glass. 🔥

GLASS TRENDS #4 Earth Tones Rising

Bright Isn’t Leading Anymore

We’re seeing a clear shift in colour choices across the studio.

Ambers.
Warm neutrals.
Soft browns.
Textured clears.

They’re moving faster than the bright, high-contrast colours that used to dominate.

Pieces like this show exactly why.

Earth tones don’t compete with a space — they settle into it.
They work with natural materials.
They soften light instead of reflecting it harshly.
And they create a calm, layered atmosphere that feels intentional.

Studios are building palettes, not colour explosions.

We’re also ordering deeper on ambers and warm neutrals because they’re not sitting on the shelves.

That’s not a trend forecast.
That’s what’s actually moving.
