Kusimudzirana Women’s Trust was founded in 2000, back then we started off as a simple French School for the local women in Chitungwiza. The French lessons caught on fast and soon we had a lot of women coming to learn the language. As our organization grew we began to undertake other projects such as poultry, rabbit keeping, mushroom farming, sculpture, carpentry, basket weaving, cutting and design
ing, hair dressing, crochet, catering and plastic recycling. We have had professionals train and assist women in the many various projects so as to equip them with the essentials skills to help better themselves, their families and their community. Kusimudzirana Women’s Trust is registered and has a very competent board of directors who are always coming up with constructive ideas to bring about production in the lives of the women of Chitungwiza. Our visions and hopes are to align ourselves with other organizations that share ideals that mainly focus on women empowering, also to connect with French speaking countries mainly to expose our local women to the beautiful French culture. We work alongside our government and ministries who have invited us to attend and participate in various exhibitions which is where most of our works, skills and products are displayed. Kusimudzirana Women’s Trust works hand in hand with our local Chitungwiza council and other local organizations to coordinate social events such as cook-outs, community functions and clean up campaigns. A lot of our members started out with nothing, some are widows who have been struggling to provide and support their families have now started their own businesses with the skills that our organization has help equipped them with. Some of the younger members run their own projects and are helping younger generations to help develop their skills. Our goals are to establish a college for French, a TV and radio station and eventually a university for languages. We have set plans in motion to build an orphanage and old peoples home. We want to ensure that every woman gets every opportunity available to help better herself, her family and community.
