Since showcasing my first collection at the EDGARS Fashion Extravaganza, I have become more intentional about showing up in fashion spaces and embracing every opportunity to grow as a designer.

Yesterday at Zimbabwe Fashion Week was another opportunity to learn, connect and gain fresh perspectives from industry experts!

Today, I’m celebrating a very special milestone, the successful completion of an 8-week crochet journey with my amazing student, Hazel Gutsa, who is living with cerebral palsy.

This condition affects her movement, coordination and speed and so learning crochet has required extra time, patience and repetition. Some stitches took longer to master and certain techniques had to be practiced over and over again but Hazel kept trying and kept improving at her own pace.

Today, she can confidently work the basic crochet stitches and has gone on to make her own headband, scrunchies, hat and phone pouch! I am incredibly proud of her progress, determination and how far she has come! 👏

THREADS OF TIME | The Story Behind the Collection.....

Threads of Time celebrates Zimbabwean crochet heritage through a contemporary fashion lens. It was inspired by our mothers and grandmothers who transformed yarn into beautiful handcrafted pieces (madhoiri) preserving skills, stories and creativity through their hands.

The natural crochet tones honour those roots, while blush and gold bring a touch of modern elegance. Every intricate stitch carries a piece of that history, transforming a treasured craft into wearable art for today!

Behind these pieces were hands crocheting, adjusting, fitting, undoing, redoing and patiently working until the vision came together. This collection carries the Crochets 'n' Knits Villa name but it also carries the fingerprints of the incredible people who helped bring it to life!🔥

As we continue revealing the collection, today we celebrate the story behind the stitches and the hands that made it possible.❤️

The dressing room was such a fun and hectic experience!!

It was my first time fitting my Bulawayo based model and I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out. I had simply relied on the measurements I was given and created the outfit here in Harare.

But guess what? It was a perfect fit!
