Meet one of our local artists — Daphne Thompson 🎨

For Daphne, painting is more than creating a finished picture. It is a chance to become completely absorbed in colour, detail and the simple enjoyment of making something.

Working primarily in acrylic and pastels, Daphne combines realism with a colourful, expressive approach. Her creative journey began in her teenage years, encouraged by her father, and art has remained an important part of her life ever since.

Daphne is one of the many talented local artists whose work you can discover through the Artisans’ Guild Gallery & Shop.

A visit to the Gallery is a little different every time. Our members are constantly creating new work, so there is always something fresh to see — from paintings and textiles to woodwork, ceramics, jewellery and other handcrafted pieces.

If you enjoy discovering original work made by people from our own community, pop in and have a browse.

There’s something special about timber in the hands of a skilled artisan. 🌿

From beautifully turned occasional tables and serving platters to handcrafted walking sticks and canes, these pieces currently in the Guild Gallery show just how much character can be brought out of natural timber.

Look closely and you’ll see the things mass-produced pieces simply can’t replicate — individual grain, natural markings, subtle changes in colour and the hand-finished details that make every piece unique.

And these photos are only a small taste of what you’ll find inside.

If you haven’t visited the Artisans’ Guild Gallery & Shop for a while, come in for a browse. You’ll find locally made art and craft created by Guild members across a wide range of mediums — and you never quite know what treasure you might discover.

Buying from the Gallery also means supporting local artists and craftspeople and helping traditional skills continue to thrive in our community.

Love butterflies? Guild member, Marie Browning has mastered the art of creating these gorgeous fanciful butterfly and dragonfly magnets that delight everyone that sees them.

Using a special paint medium specially imported from America for the purpose each one is delicately cut out and hand painted.

An extensive choice of these are displayed in both our Caboolture Square shop and the gallery.
