Some window furnishings finish a room. Others help transform the whole home.

In this Rye living room, plantation shutters bring structure to the space while giving precise control over light and privacy. The broad louvres filter the coastal sun, casting beautiful shifting patterns across the walls and floor.

Up close, they feel substantial, calm and architectural. From outside, their clean lines strengthen the façade and add noticeably to the home’s street appeal.

A practical window furnishing that became part of the architecture.

Made to measure and professionally installed by Bracken Blinds.

From the light over Rye Pier to the light moving through this coastal home.

Linen sheers soften the rooms, plantation shutters frame the light, and roller blinds provide privacy and control where needed. Window furnishings chosen not simply to cover windows, but to shape how the home feels.

“God, I’d like my house to feel like that.“

Four metres. One continuous layer of soft light.

In a space designed around its connection to the outdoors, the window furnishings needed to complement the architecture, not compete with it.

These ceiling-mounted wave-fold sheers span a four-metre drop, made possible by the generous 4.2m width of Maurice Kain Everest fabric — no horizontal joins, just a clean, uninterrupted fall from ceiling to floor.

The result softens the light while preserving the beautiful connection between this Malvern East living space and the garden beyond.

Tall windows and large expanses of glass need more than a beautiful fabric. They need the right fabric, heading, track and installation solution working together.

That’s where experience matters.

Installed in 2014.

Twelve years later, these blinds still look beautiful and operate as they should.

Good window furnishings shouldn’t simply photograph well on installation day. They should be carefully measured, properly made and fitted to last.

Some products follow trends. Others quietly outlast them.

Plantation shutters have been a favourite for decades because they solve multiple problems at once — privacy, light control and insulation — while maintaining a clean architectural appearance.

Whether installed in living areas, bedrooms or bathrooms, they bring a timeless simplicity that works with almost any interior style.

Designed, measured and installed by Bracken Blinds.

Considering plantation shutters for your home? We’d be happy to guide you through the options during a complimentary in-home consultation.
