ICU Small Animal Rugs Unique rugs made for newborns and unwell lambs-calves-kids-cria's waterproof/windproof/breathable th Pneumonia or scours. Where you can place a heat pad inside.

Hello everyone, l would like to welcome you to ICU Small Animal Rugs page. About us: Our children are the 4th Generation in this rural area of West Gippsland. Our family for these past generations have been in farming of dairy and beef. My husband and l have been farming beef cattle on a small scale for over 20 years, along with the rearing of calves and sheep breeding. Now we are breeding Pure East Friesian and Pure Suffolk's sheep with a bit of cross breeding. Why Our Rugs: I would like to believe that in my life span of 50 or so years, l have seen and learnt a lot of taking care of new born and mature animals. We understand that to loose any new born's animals whether you are on a large scale acreage of farming, the Stud Breeder, or a hobby farmer is not only disheartening but also costly. It causes frustration and helplessness and you question yourself on if there is a better way to help prevent such loss. Benefits Of The Rug: To prevent or aid in the treatment of hypothermia in newborns. Long births, low birth weights and multiple births are all situations where an ICU Small Animal Rug can assist with the treatment and recovery process. The Material Of The Rug: The outer shell is a 3-layer lamented, it's waterproof, windproof and breathable. The inner layer is a double sided fabric that wicks moisture away, and is odour controlled. The Pouch: There is a pouch on top of the rug at the back over the kidney area, between the 2 layers of fabrics. This heat pad will give safe continuous heat up to 10-12 hours.

Just couldn’t help myself.

A beautiful morning to be on the mountain. All the lambs are out enjoying the sunshine, most of them staying put for me to pat them. Little Elliottdale ewe is tiny - swapped her out to an ICU Small Animal Rugs XS coat. Keeping an eye on her as mum looks like she may have mastitis. So far, baby is suckling from one teat. Tail wagging. May have to supplement with some top up if she’s not as active as the other lambs by the afternoon.

13th September, 2026

Just a quick note that l had better make this public, how there will be no misunderstanding regarding ICU Small Animal Rugs.

I have already received enquiries regarding ICU Small Animal Rugs, fabrics, patterns, etc.

As this decision was made quickly, l should outline a couple of things regarding the closure of ICU Small Animal Rugs.

I will in due course be selling the animal rugs patterns
They are covered under
The Australian Trademark
Certificate of Registration WIPO|Madrid International
Australian Patent
New Zealand Patent
United States of America Patent

And our Domain name will be also available.

As l said, already l have had enquiries regarding the above, and at present l seriously can't deal with it.

More than likely, it will be handed over to a Broker, and our Patent Lawyer.

However you may contact me via phone on +61 408 342 426. Please leave a message and l will get back to you.

Thank you everyone for your kind messages, it really means a lot to me.

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Egan

It's with a heavy heart that l am closing the door on ICU Small Animal Rugs as of today 12/09/2026.

Some things in life you can deal with, other things you can't and at my age now l don't have too.

This business has been so gratifying, the people that l have met that l now call friends, and oh the animals that our rugs have saved, kept warm, adverse weather affecting them and so on. I have been so blessed in my life with the life that l have had with my amazing family and my life time experiences with animals.

Just to be clear ICU Small Animal Rugs has not suffered through financial matters, as l have invested a lot of time on face book, web site and other means to rebuild this year.

So thank you every one for your loyal support for the past 14 years, l wish it didn't have to end this way.

Again thank you.

Kind Regards,
Marg

Huge changes will take place next Monday the 14th September with ICU Small Animal Rugs.
As of next week a exciting new product with more to follow in the coming weeks.

There will be price reductions across the majority of ICU Small Animal Rugs. This is only possible to a person coming on board that has been associated with ICU Small Animal Rugs for the pass few years.

We cannot complete with overseas manufactures that makes up rugs for a few dollars, and nor do we want to compromise the standard of our products and definitely not the designs that have proven themselves for the past 14 years or so along with Australian products where possible in the making of our rugs.

So please be patient with me in getting this all organise, as its a mammoth undertaking, and may take me a few days to complete.
ICU Small Animal Rugs is a Australian Made & Owned, designed by myself and some very generous people out there, so please get behind us and we will endeavour to service you again with our old fashion standard that you deserve.

A seek peek of our new line.

Did someone say Spring Time Babies?
Karen who you all know has been Leasing ICU Small Animal Rugs for the past couple of years has her own new lambs hitting the ground.
Karen wrote "this little lamb was probably born a couple of hours ago in the wet and cold. The mum had sheltered her out of the wind, so out came a ICU Small Animal Rug with a heat pad as she was cold and wet."
You can see in the picture below that the lamb had already started hunching in the cold, but wasn't long before she was moving about with mum. These little rugs are cosy and warm/waterproof/wind can't pe*****te through the fabric and yet this fabric is fully breathable.
This also shows that even in a paddock the birthmother has not problem with her lamb being rugged up.

Spring Time to many of us new life on the farm.
It certainly is down in Tasmania at Anna Shepheard and Tim Saltmarsh of @ Jiel Anglo-Nubians. Anna and Tim are one of our long standing users of ICU Small Animal Rugs for so many years now.
This week Anna wrote " These quads were born between 12:30-3:30am Thursday, during horrible stormy weather. The rugs (2 XS and 2 S could have used another XS but l only have two 😂) were essential for keeping them warm while we waited for mum to finish delivering, and again a few hours later when the power went out. A very precious 3 girls and 1 boy".
Looking forward to some more photo's from Anna and Tim as there are more Doe's to kid.
