Work has started on a very special project we’re delighted to be working on.

Commonplace Medical is a clinic that embraces wellness in the broadest sense. From sustainable, natural materials, integrated waste systems, solar powered, self irrigated, greened externally & internally, acoustically supported, adaptive lighting, water stations with sparkling & filtered water supporting passive solar design to this retrofitted existing building it’s a project that promises to put people, wellness & community at the heart of this clinic.

One of the most satisfying parts of a build is working with, in this case, a workers weatherboard cottage, to restore, renovate & extend its life.

We seek to retain as much existing fabric, character & use as possible.

Here we’re insulating & ventilating the new upper level,
The ground floor rooms have been re-stumped, will get insulated & we’ve cut large northern windows to bring daylight deep into the rooms.

The main bedroom gets a WIR & ensuite. Its existing window will be remade as a double glazed window & an existing ceiling rose will be re-instated.

Renovating can be a huge journey. This morning as we think about the next Monty project we’re working on, we reflect on where this project started & where it finished.

I’ll dig up a past vs present. For now, this is where it ended up.
