🌈✨ Labradorite’s flash isn’t magic — it’s science.

That incredible shimmer is caused by a phenomenon called labradorescence. As light enters the stone, it interacts with microscopic layers inside the crystal structure, reflecting brilliant flashes of blue, green, gold, and even purple.

The effect is created through internal twinning and light interference, making each piece completely unique depending on how it formed.

No filters needed — nature already handled the special effects 💎

💬 What’s your favourite labradorite colour flash?

🧊💎 Ever notice how crystals and minerals often feel cold to the touch?

It’s not because they’re actually colder — it’s because many minerals conduct heat more efficiently than materials like wood or fabric.

When you touch a crystal, heat quickly transfers from your hand into the stone, creating that cool sensation. Minerals like quartz, obsidian, and fluorite are especially noticeable because of their thermal conductivity.

It’s one of the many ways geology can literally feel different 👀

💬 What mineral always feels the coldest to you?

🔍✨ Inclusions: Flaws or Geological Time Capsules? ✨

In gemology, inclusions are materials trapped inside a crystal during its formation — and they’re far more than just imperfections.

They can be:
• Other minerals
• Liquid or gas bubbles
• Even multi-phase systems (solid + liquid + gas)

These inclusions form as the crystal grows, capturing a snapshot of the exact conditions present millions of years ago. In fact, some inclusions are used by scientists to study ancient geological environments.

While inclusions may reduce clarity in some gems, in others (like emeralds), they are expected — and even help prove a stone is natural.

💬 Would you rather have a flawless stone, or one with a story inside it?

☢️💎 Radioactive Gemstones: Should You Be Concerned?

Yes — some gemstones naturally contain radioactive elements like uranium or thorium.

Examples include:
• Ekanite
• Autunite
• Some fluorescent opals

In most cases, radiation levels are very low and safe for casual handling — but certain specimens should be stored or displayed with care.

Interestingly, radiation can also be used in labs to enhance gemstone color — though this process is regulated due to safety concerns.

💬 Would you add a radioactive mineral to your collection?
