The Friday Five 🤍 Another week has come and gone, and it’s time for a few behind-the-scenes moments at Birchview Design.

Three days in New York, thanks to a wonderful invitation from Lutron Electronics + Luxury Residential by Lutron💡. We explored how natural and artificial light influence design, health, and the way we experience our homes. Between learning sessions, we were treated to incredible food, entertainment, and endless design inspiration. Staying at the iconic The Evelyn Hotel was the total 🍒 on top!

The workshops were full of thoughtful insights into the power of lighting. We can’t wait to bring this knowledge back to our clients and apply what we have learned to our projects 💭

We completed our Oxford Condo install earlier this week, and it was such a joy to bring this special space together. Beautiful natural light, fresh details and layers of antique and vintage pieces made it instantly feel like home. We know this will be a very happy place 🥰

The ceiling treatments for our Design Lab have arrived from Monaghan Lumber Specialties + CRAFT Living this week at the studio! We are so excited to see these details come to life. Bring on the installation 🙌

Saving the best for last: in case you missed it, we shared a sneak peek of our Grace Cottage client interview (check it out on the feed if you missed it). Their kind words about working with our firm meant oh-so much to the team! We truly have the best clients, and it’s an honour to help bring their visions to life 🤍. Thank you to Vanessa West | Squarespace Web Designer for capturing everything so beautifully 🎥

The Friday Five 🤍 Another week has come and gone, and it’s time for a few little behind-the-scenes here at Birchview Design:

Ledger House is officially underway! We’ve been meeting with the builder, getting granular on client vision, and dreaming up what this beautiful new build will become. Installing the sign always feels like it’s official (although we were laughing that we need to hammer it in a bit more) 🏡

The exterior at Grace Cottage is coming together. Fall is a lovely time for planting, and the crews Birchview Excavating + Peterborough Gardening bringing the lakeside landscape to life 🌿

Inside, the custom sauna is the final piece of the Grace Cottage gym. Just imagine stepping in after a workout and looking out over the lake, all from the privacy of home. We can’t wait to see this space finished 🏋️

Our trailer has made its way to the new studio, and the HVAC rough-ins were happening today. It’s exciting to see work moving forward there again! Thank you to Kenetic Energy Ltd and for your expertise and hard work today 🔨

And our favourite update: please officially welcome Emily! She’s joined us as our new Technical Designer, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a thoughtful eye for detail. We’re so happy to have her on the Birchview Design team!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead, thank you for being here with us 🤍

The Friday Five 🤍 Another week has come and gone, and here are a few little glimpses behind
-the-scenes at Birchview Design:

1. Our friends at Monaghan Lumber Specialties made a delivery of Trex | Outdoor Living Products goodies this week, which means one thing…deck work is up next! Exciting to see this next piece come together 🔨

2. The first trees have officially gone in at Grace Cottage (shoutout to Peterborough Gardening for the amazing service)! There is something so special about this stage of a project - watching the exterior begin to take shape and knowing these trees will grow alongside this cottage for many years to come🌳

3. A beautiful sunny day for a Project Consultation with Aimee. These early conversations are such an important part of our process - walking through a property together, talking about how our clients want to live in their home, and beginning to uncover all the possibilities ☀️

4. I snuck away for a girls’ weekend in the Algonquin Highlands, at the most incredible off-grid cottage. The rugged topography honestly felt like we had been transported to the West Coast. Any clients this area looking for a design firm, let us at this landscape! 🤩

5. And saving one of the best for last. Our wonderful client took the time to share this incredibly kind comment on yesterday’s post about her experience working with our firm, and it truly meant so much to our entire team. Knowing that our clients felt supported and cared for throughout such a significant project is ultimately what this work is all about. The fact that she wanted to shout it from the rooftops (or Facebook 😉) is such an honour. We are so grateful for the trust our clients place in us 🏡

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead 🤍

The finished spaces may be what you see, but some of the most important design work happens long before reveal day.

It is in the questions we ask, the layouts we refine, the details we resolve and the vision we steward from beginning to end.

Planning a custom home, legacy cottage or large-scale renovation? Involve your design team early. The decisions made at the beginning often shape everything that follows 🏡

The Friday Five 🤍 Another week has gone and gone, and it’s time for a few behind-the-scenes shots from life at Birchview Design:

1. Our Grace Cottage client reveal has officially taken place, and what a wonderful day it was! Seeing our clients walk through the finished spaces and be able to enjoy them is truly one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. We are still swooning at this custom L A R i S S A C L A Y T O N triptych art + the 𝕊𝕚𝕝𝕧𝕒 ℂ𝕦𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕞 𝔽𝕦𝕣𝕟𝕚𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕖 custom furniture 🖼️

2. We also sat down with our wonderful clients to hear about their experience working with Birchview Design. Our team is always incredibly grateful when our clients wish to share their experience with the world. There is no greater compliment than hearing, in their own words, what having our team alongside them throughout the process has meant. We can’t wait to share more from this conversation 🎥

3. Aimee had the very important job of popping the ch*****ne before we walked our clients through their completed spaces. After everything that goes into a project of this scale, this moment deserves to be celebrated! 🥂

4. Something big is brewing... 👀 And unfortunately, this mysterious little photo is about all we can share right now. Ha! As with many exciting things around here, you’ll just have to stay tuned 📍

5. My family and I had such a wonderful time at the Peterborough Folk Festival this past weekend. My children loved dancing and listening to the incredible artists, the food was delicious, and the entire weekend was such a beautiful reminder of what makes our community so special. It’s an event we look forward to every year, and we were so happy to be there again 🎶

A big week of celebrating projects, clients, exciting things to come, and the community we’re so fortunate to call home. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead 🤍

For over 85 years, my family has been lucky enough to have this little slice of heaven woven into our story - generations of summers, traditions and memories that have shaped how I think about cottage life. I think that’s why designing legacy cottages feels so personal to us here at Birchview Design - I feel so connected to how special these properties truly are.

When a cottage has been in a family for generations, it’s never simply about making it more beautiful. It’s about understanding what makes it feel like *your* cottage - the quirks, the traditions, the familiar details and the memories attached to them - and thoughtfully carrying that feeling forward.

Because the best cottage renovations or builds don’t erase the story that was already there. They make room for the next chapter 🤍

So special to share a little of that perspective in this article for Cottage Country Lifestyle Media 🌅
