š **Now that Thanksgiving is overā¦ what did your kitchen teach you?**
If a kitchen renovation is on your plans, donāt rush past everything you noticed while cooking, hosting, and gathering over Thanksgiving.
Because when the kitchen is full of food, family, dishes, serving platters, and people trying to help all at once, you see how the space *really* works. š
Before thinking about new countertops, cabinets or colours, take a few minutes to reflect on these five things:
1ļøā£ Where did everyone gather?
Did your family naturally end up around the island?
Were guests standing in the middle of the cooking zone because there wasnāt another comfortable place to gather?
Did you find yourself wishing the kitchen connected differently to the dining or living area?
Those moments can tell you a lot about how you should design your future kitchen.
2ļøā£ Where did you keep bumping into each other?**
Maybe someone opened the refrigerator while another person was trying to get to the sink.
Maybe the dishwasher blocked the main walkway.
Maybe two people simply couldnāt prep food comfortably at the same time.
That frustration is valuable information. š
When you renovate, a thoughtful kitchen layout should solve those exact problems.
3ļøā£ What were you constantly trying to find space for?
š„ Large pots and roasting pans
š½ļø Serving dishes
ā Small appliances
š„« Pantry items
ā»ļø Garbage and recycling
š„” Leftovers
A busy holiday meal can expose every storage problem in the room.
And sometimes the solution isnāt adding more cabinetsāitās creating smarter storage exactly where you need it.
4ļøā£ Did you have enough counter space, lighting and outlets? š”
Think about where you prepared food.
Where you served it.
Where the coffee maker, mixer, slow cooker and other appliances ended up.
And think about what happened once it got dark outside.
These details might seem small in kitchen inspiration photos, but they have a huge impact on how enjoyable your kitchen is to use every day.
5ļøā£ How do you want next Thanksgiving to feel?ā¤ļø
Imagine hosting again one year from now.
Would you like cooking to feel calmer?
Would you like guests to gather without getting in the way?
Would you like everything to finally have a place?
Would you like more room to prep, serve and enjoy the people around you?
**That feeling is where your renovation plan should start.**
Because the best kitchen isnāt simply the one that looks beautiful in photos.
Itās the one that makes everyday lifeāand the days when everyone comes overāwork better.
š” If a kitchen renovation is in your future, save this post and use these five questions as the starting point for your planning.
