For those doing RVI/NDT work: how do you handle measurement after finding an internal defect? 🔎
That’s the problem the FIBERSCOPE iX3D was designed to address.
It combines video borescope inspection with stereo-based 2D and 3D measurement, so an inspector can locate a defect and then measure its length, depth, height, distance or area without dismantling the component.
One feature we find particularly useful is measurement verification. iX3D creates a 360° 3D model showing the surface and measurement points. You can rotate and zoom the model to check where the points were placed. A color depth map helps visualize surface geometry, while areas without enough 3D data for measurement are marked in red.
There are six measurement methods, including Point to Point, Point to Line, Point to Plane, Multipoint, Max Point to Line and Plane.
The system also has interchangeable 0° and 90° stereo probes, 4 mm and 6 mm diameter options, four-way articulation, and working lengths up to 7.5 m.
According to the iX3D documentation, a measurement can be obtained in less than one minute.
