👇🏽 A little secret for cooking meats from a Dominican mom!
After marinating chicken or pork, we brown a teaspoon of sugar in a pot and then add the meat. We leave it untouched until it develops a deep golden-brown color, then flip it and repeat on the other side.

This simple step adds color, depth, and richness to the dish. It’s the foundation of many traditional recipes, from chicken and rice to hearty soups, stews, and sautéed meats.

It’s one of those small techniques that makes a big difference in our cooking.

This simple rice and salami recipe is packed with flavour, easy to make, and perfect for busy weeknights.

Save this recipe for later and send it to someone who needs new dinner ideas!

Ingredients:
• 1 tsp oil• 6 slices salami, cut into quarters
• 1 tsp Dominican Flavours Seasoning Base
• 1 tsp tomato paste or tomato sauce (optional)
• 3 cups long-grain rice
• 4 cups water (adjust according to the rice you use)

👩🏽‍🍳 Directions:

Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat.
Add the salami and cook until lightly browned.
Stir in the Dominican Flavours Seasoning Base and tomato paste.
Pour in the water and bring to a boil.
Add the rice and stir.
Cook until most of the liquid has evaporated.
Cover, reduce the heat to low, and cook for 20 minutes.
Fluff with a fork and serve with your favourite salad.
