And suddenly a cute and quick DIY project!

I’m not a major DIY kind of person, I often feel I’m not that creative to come up with different things around the house, and that these little projects are super super small. However they do make me super HAPPY!

I had watched a video of someone pairing the mat of the frame to add color and thought it was a great idea! Yesterday I was trying to tidy things up on my office corner in the living room and had a sudden urge to paint the backboard of a frame that was laying around. It worked perfectly for this floral bird illustration print I had.

It looks so much better than just a regular white mat!

A little refresh around here ✨

Over the years, Menina Lisboa has gone through a few logo changes, website updates and identity tweaks. The funny thing is that I’ve never really shared them as an event. Things usually happen behind the scenes and that was it!

This time felt different.

What started as a simple “I should probably update the shop” somehow turned into redesigning the website, refining a logo I’d been working on for weeks, creating alternate logo versions, choosing colors, testing fonts, writing a tagline and eventually putting together an actual branding document. So fancy of me!

Suddenly I found myself asking questions I hadn’t stopped to think about in a long time.

What do I want Menina Lisboa to feel like?

What do I want people to remember?

What kind of work do I want to create more of?

The result is what you see today: a brighter, more colorful, more playful Menina Lisboa.

Still inspired by travel, home, childhood, patterns, and everyday little moments, but with a clearer sense of direction and purpose.

It’s funny how these things happen. You start by updating one small thing and end up realizing you’re stepping into a new chapter.

So here’s to new beginnings, new ideas, and all the illustrations still waiting to be created ✨

Oh my gosh, how did we end up here?

Somehow it feels that 2026 “just” began and it’s month 6 already?

June may still carry a feeling of early soft summer days, but the truth is that in Madrid “soft” and “summer” do NOT go along in the same sentence!

So here we are, at the beginning of a very long summer season that definitely does not last solely three months.

On the other hand, we also celebrate Children’s Day and this is why I created this cheerful and super colorful “Welcome June”, because kids deserve COLOR in their lives! I’m actually trying to add more to our house, I just don’t know how and where! But I’ll get there!

Happy June and Happy Children’s Day!

A few random things to wish you a great weekend!!!

1. Our Wednesday routine, Alice gets to pick something from the bakery, I get a coffee
2. I was super happy with my OOTD
3-5. Books in Madrid, the charming book fair near Retiro, which is always photo worthy
6. We found a dead bird on our way to school the other day, they took turns holding him and we said goodbye
7. The most expensive coffee I’ve had so far - 4,70€ for a “cafe con leche de avena”, it was good, but I’m not sure if it was an almost 5€ worth of good!
8. Then I went for a pastel de nata near Puerta del Sol here in Madrid
9. Another photo session, another coffee! This time 2,50€ and it was super good!
10. I cut some yellow gingham ripped pants that Alice had, and created a cute keepsake for the number I took when I went to the hospital to give birth to Alice.

Summer is getting closer and closer and I just want all the cherries! Though I’m a fall kind of person through and through, oh my goodness, summer fruit is a whole next level of perfection!

Cherries that are ready to eat, washed and cold, in a cute bowl is the perfect summer snack! That and fruit shakes with frozen fruit like mangos!

So I drew some cherries for those who love COLOR in your kids’ bedroom!

Recently we made the decision of giving each sister their own bedroom. They were sharing a bedroom since Laura started sleeping in her own bed, and the room next to it was their playroom. So now they are neighbors!

Honestly I have mixed feelings about it. I understand it’s a 4y gap and Alice surely appreciates having her own bedroom with her own things. But still… I always pictured them sharing long talks when going to bed and assumed that the 4y gap would not be that relevant.

We still need some things, like a lamp and a new rug for Laura’s bedroom, but I’m playing with the illustrations already! I had these printed out to test some papers and I absolutely LOVED how they turned out!

And the color palette is chef’s kiss!

And as we are amidst the memories brought by a weekend spent in Lisbon, I thought I would bring you two of my favorite illustrations with Lisbon as a theme.

First the unforgettable yellow tram. It’s iconic and I hope the city keeps them working forever (in good conditions of course!)…

And second a street that could be anywhere in Lisbon.

The colors, the hills behind it, the plants by the door…

I might even LOVE it more than the one with the tram! But shh, don’t tell anyone!

Putting it out there into the universe that I pretty much would love to create a collection with some of my patterns this year! ✨

I create patterns every month to update my shops on and , but I would love a kids’ collection, because how much fun are these?

I’m going to just leave it here!

I spent the weekend in Lisbon working for and I had a bit of time in Chiado and Bairro Alto to wander with my camera!

The city still holds the magic light and vibrant colors!

I wish I had more time to wander around the other neighborhoods as well!

Some cute and playful stars I drew the other day!

I’m absolutely LOVING this color palette and creating playful characters!

It also makes me want to paint the girls’ bedroom and make it more colorful!

Also just a reminder that I have several patterns and illustrations available for licensing, so feel free to connect with me if you want to collaborate!
