Deeside Willow's purpose is to support others to be 'growers' and 'makers' through offerings of living willow, crafts and workshops! We are a growing family-run business working out of our smallholding in Royal Deeside, on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park, Scotland, and we are passionate about willow and sustainability. We offer our services to local business, groups and individuals and the

Hi all - hope you are all well and good! It's been a wee while since we last posted... time flies when you are having fun! Here are few updates...

πŸš™- Back on the road again!

We had an amazing time with folks representing the Scottish Basketmakers Circle at Scone Palace Garden Fair- we are still buzzing from the experience - amazing crowds, lovely vibes and stunning place!

We are busy preparing for a return visit to the North Scotland Garden Show which runs from tomorrow (Friday 12th June) - we will be selling our garden crafts and running workshops alongside Fìor. We will have everything from plant supports/trellis, garden crafts, baskets, living willow and more will be available to buy. Hope to see you there - but if you are unable to catch us at the show, and are looking for something - just get in touch...

We joined in with the Winchburgh Community Growing Group's birthday celebrations last weekend too... we are delighted to have made a wee contribution over the last few years to this fine example of a wonderful community group!

πŸ’š- We have been making new friends and welcoming some friendly faces back (thanks to the The Hoggs for taking some lovely photos!) to our beginner willow workshops too and if you would like to join us on one our future workshops - some available spaces:

Happy May! A few updates and new workshop dates...

πŸ’š- We had a fantastic afternoon working with an amazing group in Strachan Hall last Sunday for our second plant support workshop of the year. We still have a couple of spaces left for our final plant support workshop on the 10th May if you would like to join us?

🌱- It was great to be back working with the Forget Me Not Club in Banchory making plant supports for their garden - a massive thank you to local businesses for their kind donations in helping us make this happen!

πŸ’- We also managed to catch-up with our friends FΓ¬or - we have started to collaborate on future workshops and more. Emily will be joining us to run a Summer Heart-making/decorating workshop at this year's North Scotland Garden Show

Hey folks - hope you all had a great Easter-break and have been enjoying some of the fine weather in between April showers! After a busy end to the planting season, we took some time out with family and friends - and now we are back working on spring crafts again!

We feel privileged to be working on some commissions for some special return customers - from plant supports to veg-trays our hands have been kept busy! We worked with the amazing Alcohol & Drugs Action group to make some plant supports for their outdoor spaces and we are just working on confirming some dates to be back with Forget Me Not Club later this month.

We have added some new workshops dates over the warmer months - including some extra dates for some of our sold-out sessions:

Hey friends and - where did February go?

πŸ’ͺ- As we write this post, we are half-way through making log baskets with a lovely group of people! Great to see some friendly faces returning with us to the workshop! We had an awesome group of people join us for our willow harvesting afternoon earlier in the month too. Many thanks to all of those who have been helping us with this year's harvest. We still have a couple of spaces on our next living willow workshop and harvesting afternoon:

πŸš™- Last week was all about delivering living willow hedge, fedge and arch kits to folks all over Scotland and closer to home - helping locals with coppicing their willow, including a wee visit back to Logie Coldstone Primary School to give their outdoor classroom a tidy-up!

Past half-way through January... but we still think its ok to say... Happy New Year!

πŸ™- We are looking forward to 2026 being full of many more creative collaborations and making memories! We just want to make a shout out and a big thank you to all of our customers and supportive friends!

❄️- With the snow almost melted, our focus has turned to living willow projects, harvesting and propagating. We are already busy with folks ordering willow cuttings and living willow kits from us. We grow around 65 varieties and offer a wide range of willow cuttings, whips and living structure kits. πŸš™ - After a great wreath workshop with The Secret Garden and a stall at an amazing Finzean Christmas Fair last weekend - we are looking forward to our final outings of the year! We are at Aboyne Farmers Market Est. 2024 (Saturday 13th December), and then headed to St Margaret's Braemar's Festival de Noel / The Ghillie's Larder - Braemar Farmers Market (Sunday 14th December).
If you cant make it - you can also find our crafts in The Secret Garden (Aboyne), Ethical Gift Shop & Refillery (Huntly) and Crathie Gallery.

πŸ™ - A big festive-thanks to all of you who have come into see us at our pop-up shop (The Old Smiddy Festive Pop-Up). With three days left to go, we will be closing our doors on Thursday 27th Nov. Our opening hours:
- Tuesday 25th - 10-2pm - Emily from Fìor is running the show!
- Wednesday 26th - 10-2pm
- Thursday 27th - 10-6pm - join us between 5-6pm for a festive farewell cuppa and cake!

Really good to be able to open our doors today (The Old Smiddy Festive Pop-Up) after being snowed in for the last couple of days! We had great fun in our willow star workshop today, with the rest of the group joining us tomorrow morning. Our festive workshops can be booked here: https://www.deesidewillow.com/willow-workshops

It was great to have Emily (Fìor) pop-in this morning with some lovely new items for the shop, including new decorated wreaths, hearts, refreshed dried and fresh festive wraps. We added some new items to our home-grown/home-made willow crafts too, and we have some wonderful woodwork (by Lowwood Turning), wool wreaths, beeswax candles, soaps, lavender bag and some beautiful prints, cards and more from locals Agnes, Jane and Anke.

Phew...! And...we still have a few bottles of the delicious Tarland Development Group's bottled Apple Juice too!

We are open tomorrow (Saturday 22nd) and Sunday 23rd from 11-3pm - we look forward to seeing you!
