South Devon Estuary House has been shortlisted in the BIID Interior Design Awards 2026, in the Residential Project, South West & Wales category. It’s lovely to see a project that involved so many people, ideas, and hands recognised in this way.

The five-bedroom estuary home was shaped around re-upholstered Danish mid-century collectibles, local Devon makers, artists, and subcontractors, with the aim of creating something that felt personal and connected to its surroundings.

The shortlist email came through a few weeks ago, but work carried on as usual with site visits, deadlines, and everything in between. So this is simply a moment to pause and say thank you to the clients, makers, suppliers, and everyone involved in bringing the project together.

Two years ago, I attended an SBID awards dinner as someone else’s guest and I remember thinking how nice it would be to have my own project featured by them one day. Then it was straight back to deadlines, site visits, client decisions, and all the day-to-day work that tends to take priority.

This year, I decided to enter Frankum Mews into the SBID International Design Awards 2026, and I’m very grateful to see it named as a finalist in the Show Flats & Developments category.

A lovely reminder to pause, reflect on the work that goes into these projects, and appreciate everyone who helps bring them together.

Some of the best hospitality spaces make moving through them feel natural, even when there's a lot happening behind the scenes.

Following a full interior demolition, this restaurant was defined by the movement of waves and the iconic colour palettes found across English coastal towns. A dedicated takeaway counter keeps quick service separate from seated dining, while a suspended shelving cabinet in the open kitchen keeps plate storage accessible and helps define the room. The original brick façade was whitewashed and finished with seafront bulkhead wall lights, tin pendant lights, exposed industrial fixtures, and hand-painted basket pendant lights above the bar.

A space where carefully designed details quietly support the rhythm of every service.

Frankum Mews has been named a finalist in the SBID International Design Awards 2026, within the Show Flats & Developments category, and it's easy to see why. From balcony coffees and bright living spaces to calm bedrooms and a kitchen designed for daily hosting, every corner feels personal, comfortable, and ready to be lived in.

The rooms in this home feel like they belong together, with every material and finish chosen with the whole house in mind. The dining area pairs a bronze and frosted glass chandelier with black oak, black wood, and rattan mesh dining chairs. In the kitchen, Farrow & Ball's 'Slate I' walls, 'Slate III' cabinetry, and 'All White' ceiling are warmed by satin brass pendant lights and distinctive ironmongery. Paint & Paper Library's 'Aqua Viva' continues through the staircase, balustrade, and panelling, while the charcoal wine wall with anthracite Crittall-style sliding doors adds another layer of character. A space designed for daily meals, longer dinners, and everything in between.

The character of a home is often defined by the details that don't ask for attention but quietly change how the space feels.

For this five-bedroom summer home, those details include Danish retro collectibles, walnut, marble, and a calming palette, alongside a 2-metre marble-topped dining table on a wood pedestal and emperor-sized joinery designed for gathering. Re-upholstered Danish antiques, glass artistry, and driftwood maps root the home in its Devon setting, while every material was chosen to withstand coastal air and moisture. Even the logistics, from narrow-access deliveries using transit vehicles to installing the client's 200kg marble-topped pool table from Surrey, were carefully managed to support carbon preservation.

When every small decision is thought through, the whole home feels naturally connected.

The easiest homes to settle into are the ones that feel welcoming from the moment the door opens. Here, off-whites and beige are layered with cane, light woods, woven fabrics, sage-green artwork, and terracotta tones, while distinctive wallpapers and carefully chosen details bring character throughout. Together, they create a home that feels comfortable and ready for everything from quiet everyday moments to the times when the house is full.

Exceptional homes are never created from finishes alone. They come from experience, from understanding how a room should work, how light should move, where structure needs to work harder, and how every detail should support the way a client lives.

At Studio G Interior Design, that understanding has been shaped over decades of high-end residential design, architectural knowledge, and a genuine love for the process. Gülçin brings together space planning, craftsmanship, art, travel, nature, and close collaboration with architects, specialists, and local artisans to create homes that feel layered, calm, and personal.

The difference is in the way everything is thought through long before the final details, so the home doesn't just look beautiful; it feels warm, grounded and intuitive.
