Newport Bag Company

Newport Bag Company Hand crafted items created to raise funds to support www.thebwrc.com based in Weston, nr Stafford. I just make them from whatever fabrics I have available.

The sales price for all items is donated to the charity and I do not take any expenses donating my time and creativity for free. I love to sew and fill the house with fabric and haberdashery so have found the perfect way to put it all to good use. I am always making something and am happy if you wanted to place an order for something specific. Newport Bags help a local animal charity in a very sma

ll way as I donate all of the sale price to them to help buy food and bedding. All are individual, I never make the same item twice although I will make commissions which could be similar to existing products . . .

Delighted to let you know that today I’ve transferred £200 to The British Wildlife Rescue Centre today. Thank you so much to everybody who has supported this little fundraising project so far — your support really is appreciated 🦔

Special thanks to Joy, Claire, Tina, Philippa and Katie for purchasing bags from me and to Yvonne pledging for bags I’m dropping off.

I’m also hopefully selling a few in my garden at our open gardens event in the village. I’ll be heading over to the rescue at the end of June with any remaining bags.

I will make sure I have some more bags available in the autumn. If anybody would like to order a particular design as a Christmas present, please feel free to get in touch 🎄👜🐾

A new batch of my bags made up and available. I’ve added a few new designs to the mix and every single one sold really does make a difference 🦔 if you like one and it’s gone I’m happy to make another BUT it won’t be exactly the same.

Check my previous post if you would like me to save any for later in the year 🎁

All of the bags are one-off combinations of colours and designs (once they’re gone, they’re gone!), they are £20 each. And just a reminder that 100% of the sale price goes straight to The British Wildlife Rescue Centre — I don’t take any for myself 💚 you can pick them up from me or the rescue although it will be at least a couple of months before I go.

📏 Size: 43cm wide x 35cm tall x 11cm deep, lined with a pocket for phone / keys.

🚚 Delivery £3.65 Royal Mail 48 Tracked for up to three bags.

Message me or comment if you would like to buy one. PayPal preferred please for payment.

💚 Important bit: Any bags collected from the rescue are paid for directly to the rescue centre at the time. Please take cash if you can.

Thank you for supporting wildlife, one bag at a time 🐾💚

I’ve got £80 to transfer over to The British Wildlife Rescue Centre 🥰 this week.

Extra special thanks this month to Jinny and Lesley for purchasing bags and a bespoke cushion — every order really does make a difference.

I know money can feel a bit tight these days, with prices going up. I appreciate things like new tote bags and supporting charities are all competing for a place on the shopping list 🙃

With that in mind, I wanted to offer a little bit of flexibility. If anyone has their eye on one of my bags (they do make rather lovely Christmas presents if I do say so myself 🎄), I’m very happy to reserve for you until November. I can post up to three bags for one postage fee too, which makes things a little more economical. Let me know in your comments or messages.

Thank you so much for all your continued support, whether that’s purchasing, liking or sharing posts. The mysterious Facebook algorithm seems to like that sort of thing, and it helps my page reach more people — which means more support for the rescue.

I’ve got quite a few bags ready to share next week, so have a little think if there’s anything you’d like me to squirrel away for later in the year 😊 or even order for a Christmas 🤶 present - we all have that awkward to buy for friend that just loves a giraffe - anyway you get the picture.

First ducklings of the year. Now the worries really begin as there are lots of predators in this world . . . . . we do our best to keep an eye on them 🥰

For those who’ve recently found their way to my page — hello, and welcome. This is where it all began… and why I still do what I do 💛

I’m lucky enough to live in a small village with a stream at the bottom of the garden. It’s every bit as idyllic as it sounds — daily visits from mallard ducks, the occasional fox or badger, and more birds than I can keep up with. It’s beautiful, but it’s also a gentle reminder of just how fragile our wildlife is, and how much it quietly struggles.

A few years ago, I decided I wanted to do my bit — something small, but meaningful. So in November 2019, with a slightly mad idea and a sewing machine, the Newport Bag Company was born. The plan? Make bags (and later cushions), sell them, and donate every penny to a small charity dedicated to British wildlife.

What started as a simple idea got out of hand 🤣 — especially during lockdown, when it gave me purpose (and probably saved my sanity more than once). Since then, together we’ve raised over £14,000, which still feels a bit surreal to say out loud.

And just to clear up any misconceptions — the “company” is just me. I’m Gail Newport, and most days you’ll find me in a spare bedroom, surrounded by fabric, quietly sewing away. Not quite the glamorous operation the name might suggest!

I’m passionate about reusing and repurposing wherever I can — donated fabrics, supplies sourced at cost from a kind friend’s haberdashery warehouse, and beautiful offcuts rescued from a local upholstery shop. It’s all part of keeping things as sustainable as possible.

Things can slow down a little now as other fundraising options return, but I’m still here, still sewing, and still incredibly grateful.

Thank you, truly, for supporting what I do — it means more than you know 💛 and I know The British Wildlife Rescue Centre truly appreciates it.

Been busy giving some very tatty four-year-old bunting a second life… this time as garden cushions – for me of all people! Nothing goes to waste here 😊

Also been stitching away on some fresh bunting for The British Wildlife Rescue Centre reception, so it’s all been a bit of a fabric-filled few days.

Dropped off a bag this morning and yes… I do accept cash 😂. Really pleased to have sent another £60 over to the rescue, including £40 from a special order.

Huge thanks to Georgina & Heidi for making this possible – bringing the total to £220 this month. Every stitch really does make a difference 💛

Well… turns out bags = money for the animals 🐾💛

Thanks to you lovely lot, I’ve just sent £160 over to The British Wildlife Rescue Centre— not bad from a stash of fabric and a lot of tea-fuelled stitching!

Huge thanks to Lesley, Phillipa, Jinny, Katie, Danielle & Stephanie — you’re officially enablers of my sewing habit (and heroes to the animals).

All available bags are still lurking on my 25 March post if you fancy a browse. Every stitch counts… especially as we head into the rescue’s super busy season 😅
