Q- HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED AT FERRERS GALLERY?

A- “I’ve worked part-time at the gallery for 3.5 years now! You can find me here on a Wednesday, as well as the occasional weekend . Alongside helping out at the gallery, I also take lots of photos for our social media and keep busy by creating posts and reels!”

Q- WHAT WIDER CREATIVE WORK DO YOU DO?

A- “For the past 6 years, I’ve been running my small business Mill Lane Felting, creating needle felted wildlife sculptures and other pieces inspired by nature.”

“I now have my own studio right here at the centre, where I also teach felting workshops!”

Q- HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED FERRERS GALLERY?

A- “I’ve been the owner of Ferrers Gallery since 2002, so nearly 24 years!”

Q- WHAT OTHER CREATIVE WORK DO YOU DO?

A- “As well as owning the gallery, I also work part-time as the Marketing Coordinator and Emerging Artists Programme Lead for Charnwood Arts.”

Q- WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT OWNING THE GALLERY?

A- “I love choosing and placing orders, especially with individual makers. Finding something unusual, beautifully made and full of character, and knowing that my customers will appreciate the quality and craftsmanship, gives me a real buzz!”

“Knowing that every order also makes a difference to another small business is a wonderful bonus. I love the fact that we are a small business supporting other small businesses. In fact, every year we support more than 250 different small businesses and makers!”

Q- WHAT’S THE BEST PART ABOUT OWNING FERRERS GALLERY?

A- “There is nothing better than a customer coming back to tell me how treasured a piece of art or craft has become to them - perhaps something they bought many years ago that still brings them joy today.”

“Knowing that the British Craft we sell here at Ferrers Gallery can become a long term investment is really important to me, particularly in a world of overconsumption. I love the idea that something made with care and skill can be valued, enjoyed and treasured for years to come and perhaps handed down to a future generation.”
